The frame is a safety part
It is easy to think of a subframe as a bracket. It is the thing holding you in the car, and in an accident it carries every bit of load your body puts through the seat.
Which is why it is worth using a frame made for the car rather than something adapted, and why the bolts get torqued to specification rather than done up by feel. If you are fitting it yourself and do not have a torque wrench, that is the one tool to borrow before you start.

This covers the earlier G series. Porsche changed the car again in October 1984, and the frames do not swap across that change. Send us the chassis number if your car is anywhere near either end of that span.

Base mount or side mount, and does it matter?
