The Escort Mk7 is the final generation Ford Escort and turns up on track day registers and club sprint grids more than its age suggests. The running costs are low, the aftermarket is mature, and fitting a better seat is usually the first modification that makes a real difference in the car.
This subframe (SU-FO-ES) bolts to the Escort Mk7’s factory floor mounting points. The 291mm x 330mm bolt pattern fits Cobra base-mounted seats with a 291mm or 405mm wide runner handle: Monaco, Classic, Clubman, Monte Carlo, Stuttgart and Le Mans all bolt straight on. The sliding runner is included in the price. Sparco, Planted, OMP, Recaro and Corbeau all sell the runner separately.
Side-mounted seats (Nogaro, Suzuka T, Imola) need side mounts rather than a subframe. If that is the plan, ask before ordering.
If the car competes
Check the class regulations before choosing the seat. Some events require FIA homologation with a current approval label. Others accept any properly mounted bucket. The subframe works for both outcomes. The seat is where the distinction matters, and getting it wrong means a seat going back.
