The Cobra Nogaro Munich, a limited edition of the Nogaro trimmed in the original BMW E46 M3 CSL centre fabric. Part number NOG-GC-MUNICH.

It is the real CSL cloth

The most important thing on this page. The pin dot centre fabric on this seat is the material BMW used in the E46 M3 CSL, not a print of it and not a lookalike weave. Cobra hold a finite amount of it, so the Munich runs until that stock is gone and then it stops. That is what you are paying for.

Around it sits genuine Alcantara in 9002 Charcoal, and the stitch lines and panel splits follow the original CSL seat rather than Cobra’s usual Nogaro pattern. Side by side with a standard Nogaro the difference is obvious.

No harness slots

The shoulders are closed. There are no slots cut in this shell, so a four point harness goes over the top of the seat rather than through it, and the seat is designed to work with your car’s standard three point belt without modification.

If you need the belts routed through the seat, order the Nogaro Circuit instead. The slots cannot be added afterwards.

The shell

Underneath the trim this is a standard Nogaro, so it behaves like one. The side and shoulder bolsters hold you without making you climb over them, and the base profile lets the seat sit very low if that is how you like to drive.

910mm tall, 560mm wide, 490mm across the base, 710mm deep, at 7.9kg in fibreglass. Side mount only. Cut for drivers over 6ft with a 32 to 36 inch waist.

Road and Track approved rather than FIA homologated. Seat only. Tell us the car and we will quote the side mounts and the subframe with it.

Built to order

Cobra trim each Munich when it is ordered, so this is not a seat that leaves the same week. Ask us before you commit and we will confirm the current lead time. Wet lay carbon and full carbon fibre shells are available on request, and the seat can be built with a fitted heater, a pneumatic lumbar bag, or both.

Cobra seat size guide

Cobra build their competition shells in two widths and their road, reclining and classic ranges in one. Get the width name right and the model choice mostly follows.

How Cobra size their seats

The composite competition shells (Sebring, Suzuka, Imola, Evolution) come as Standard, which we list for a 28 to 32 inch waist, and GT, for 32 to 36. Cobra list the same external dimensions for both, so the difference is in the fit through the hips and shoulders: go by the waist band, not the drawing. The steel-framed Monaco follows the same idea with a Standard, a 32 to 36 and a Monaco GT for 36 to 38.

The reclining Misano, Daytona, Le Mans and Stuttgart are one size each and take a 32 to 38 inch waist. The classic range (Clubman, Cub, Roadster, RS, Interlagos, the Classic itself) is one size and suits most drivers; the exceptions are noted in the table.

Over 6 ftThe Sebring and Nogaro shells are the tall ones, 910 to 935 mm high with the head support set for a long body. The Suzuka Standard, the Monaco and most of the classics suit drivers under 6 ft better.

Width is the widest point of the shell, usually across the shoulder wings on a bucket and across the bolsters on a recliner. Base width is what has to clear the tunnel and the door card.

Measure yourself first

Four numbers decide whether a seat fits. Take them in the clothes you drive in, and write them down before you compare models.

AWaistAround your natural waist, not your trouser size. Trouser sizes usually run an inch or two under the real figure, and the waist bands on our product pages use the real one.

BSeated hip widthSit on a hard chair with your feet flat and measure straight across the widest point of your hips with a rule or a straight edge, not a tape that follows the curve. This is the number that decides whether a fixed shell is tight.

CShouldersStraight across the back at the widest point. Fixed back seats hold you here, so a shell that is narrow at the shoulders is uncomfortable long before it is unsafe.

DHeight and torsoYour height, and if you are over 6 ft whether that is mostly leg or mostly body. A long body needs a taller shell with the head support set higher.

Before you order

Check the car, not only the driver. Transmission tunnels, door cards and B pillars are what stop a wide shell going in. Our seat mounting and fixing points guide covers what to measure.
Side mount and base mount shells are not interchangeable. Which one you need depends on the car and the subframe, so pick the brackets at the same time as the seat.
If you run a HANS or plan to, filter on HANS friendly. The shoulder openings are cut to clear the collar.
FIA seats carry an expiry date on the homologation label. Check what your championship accepts and how long the seat has left, particularly on discounted older stock.

Is the fabric really the CSL material?
Yes. Cobra bought the original BMW E46 M3 CSL centre cloth and trim the Munich in it, with genuine Alcantara 9002 Charcoal around it. It is not a reproduction weave. It is also why the seat is a limited run rather than a catalogue line.

Will I fit in this seat?
Cobra size the Nogaro shell for drivers over 6ft with a 32in to 36in waist. Those are the paper numbers, and how a seat feels to sit in is a different question. We keep the Nogaro range on display and our showroom team sit in them every day, so call us and we will give you the honest answer.

Can I run a harness with it?
Over the top of the seat, yes. Through the seat, no, because this shell has no slots in the shoulders. If harness routing matters, look at the Nogaro Circuit.

What else do I need to fit it?
A pair of side mounts per seat, plus the car specific frame, and a sliding runner if you want fore and aft adjustment. Our guide on base mount versus side mount walks through the whole stack. Tell us the car and we will quote the full kit.

Cobra seats are handcrafted in the UK

Each seat is built to the specification you choose, which is why the wait is what it is: on average around 4 to 6 weeks, depending on the trim and options.

Cobra do not allow queue jumping. Orders are produced in the order they are received, so the earlier yours is placed the earlier it is built.

Made to your specification

Because each seat is made for your order rather than picked off a shelf, a made-to-specification seat cannot be cancelled once it is in production, and our special order terms apply.
