The Honda S2000 AP1 was sold from 1999 to 2003 with the F20C 2.0-litre, a naturally aspirated engine that reaches 9000rpm and produces 240bhp from exactly two litres. The roadster layout gives an extremely low and narrow cockpit, and the standard seats, which are already more supportive than a typical sports car, are still softer and wider than most drivers want for circuit work.

The AP1 has the original S2000 suspension geometry, stiffer than later cars, and it responds well to a seat swap that gets the driver lower and more centred. Many S2000 owners running track days or club sprints find that a fixed-back bucket at a lower height also improves forward visibility over the scuttle, especially with a helmet on.
