Range guide / Cobra Nogaro

The Cobra Nogaro seat range

I am Cameron, and the Nogaro is the seat I end up talking about most. It is the one that works as a bucket without punishing you on the way home, which is why it goes into far more road cars than anything else we sell. The catch is that the range has grown a lot, the names do not explain themselves, and one decision in it cannot be undone. This guide is here to get that decision right first time.

The short version

Settle the harness slots first, because they cannot be cut in later. Club Sport, Circuit and the Ebisu Edition have them. Street, M Style, Munich and Speedster do not. Everything else is trim, shell material and price.

01 / The seat

One shell, a lot of names

Almost every Nogaro is the same piece of fibreglass. 910mm tall, 560mm across the shoulders, 490mm across the base, 710mm deep, 7.9kg. One piece, side mount only, no recliner and no separate headrest.

What changes between the models is what is wrapped round it, whether the shoulders have slots cut in them, and in a couple of cases what the shell is made of. That is genuinely it, and it is why a Club Sport and a Circuit sit the same way in the car despite a fair gap in price.

The exception is the Speedster, which is a different shell at 700mm. Worth knowing before you assume the range is one seat in nine outfits.

The side and shoulder bolsters hold you without making you climb over them, and the base profile lets the seat sit very low. That combination is the whole reason the Nogaro sells the way it does.

2019, Street and Circuit

The two shells that still define the range, listed with us from the start. Identical apart from the slots.

2020, Club Sport

The same shell in cloth or velour instead of leather and Dinamica. Cheapest in the range and still harness ready, which is an unusual combination.

2024, Speedster

The low back, at 700mm and 7.5kg. Built for cars with a low roofline and open cars where a tall shell stands proud of the screen line.

2025 to 2026, the editions

Ebisu, Ebisu Street, M Style and now the Munich. Same shell, special trim, and in the Munich’s case a genuinely finite one.

02 / The range

Six things to choose between

Everything in the range is one of these. Pick the row first and the exact listing second.

01Club Sport

The way into the range. Identical shell to the Circuit, trimmed in cloth or velour rather than leather and Dinamica. Keeps the harness slots, which nothing else at this money does.

Harness slots7.9kgFrom £524

02Street

No slots in the shoulders. Built around your car’s original three point belt, which is what most of these cars keep. Amalfi and Dinamica trim as standard.

No slots7.9kgFrom £657

03Circuit

The Street shell with two slots cut in the shoulders, so a 4 or 6 point harness routes through the seat rather than over it. The one to order if a harness is anywhere in the plan.

Harness slots7.9kgFrom £682

04Speedster

The odd one out, and the only one that is not the same shell. 700mm rather than 910mm, and 7.5kg. For low rooflines, open cars, and anyone who does not want a tall back in shot.

Low back 700mm7.5kgNo slots

05Special editions

Ebisu in red velour, the M Style, and the Munich in genuine BMW E46 CSL cloth. Same shells underneath, so they fit and behave exactly like the standard seats.

06Carbon and Tartan

The same seats in carbon fibre, and the Tartan Editions we do with Cobra. Carbon is the weight answer, tartan is the character answer, and neither changes how the seat fits.

03 / How to choose

Four questions, in this order

Answer them in order and the listing picks itself.

1

Do you want harness slots?

This is the only decision in the range you cannot change your mind about. The slots are moulded into the shell, so they cannot be cut in afterwards and a seat without them cannot be converted. Club Sport, Circuit and the Ebisu Edition have them. Street, M Style, Munich and Speedster do not. If there is even a chance of a harness later, buy the slots now.

2

Full height or low back?

Everything except the Speedster is 910mm tall. The Speedster is 700mm. A low back earns its place in a car with a low roofline, or an open car where a tall shell sits proud above the screen line. It costs you the shoulder height, and with it the ability to run a harness over your shoulders properly. Measure from your floor pan to the roof before you decide.

3

Fibreglass or carbon?

Fibreglass is 7.9kg and does everything most people need. Cobra quote 5.3kg for a full carbon shell, so you are paying roughly three times the money for about two and a half kilos a seat. Wet lay carbon sits between the two, but it is a finish rather than a weight saving, so buy it because you like how it looks.

4

Trim, and what you want it to feel like

Cobra hand trim these in the UK, which is why the options list is as long as it is. Cloth and velour on the Club Sport, Amalfi and Dinamica on the Circuit and Street, leather on the Speedster, and one or two colour combinations across most of the range. Tell us your colours at checkout and we will confirm the design before it is built.

If you are within an inch of the roof, or within an inch of the waist range, do not order off the numbers. Ring us or come in and sit in one. It takes ten minutes and it saves the seat going back.

04 / The core range

The four you are actually choosing between

Club Sport, Street and Circuit are the same shell at three price points. The Speedster is the low back. Between them these cover almost every Nogaro that leaves here.

05 / Special editions

Same seat, different clothes

The Ebisu Edition is the Circuit shell in red velour with the slots. The Ebisu Street Edition carries both names, so check the slots on that listing before you order. The M Style is a trim rather than a different seat.

06 / The limited one

Nogaro Munich

Cobra bought the original centre cloth from the BMW E46 M3 CSL, the pin dot weave that was in the car itself, and trim the Munich in it with genuine Alcantara 9002 Charcoal around the outside. The stitch lines follow the CSL seat rather than the usual Nogaro pattern.

There is only so much of that cloth, and that is the whole point. When it runs out the Munich stops, and it is not a line Cobra can restart.

Underneath it is a Street shell, so 910mm, 7.9kg, side mount, and no harness slots. Wet lay and full carbon shells are available to order.

07 / Carbon

The same seats, a lot lighter

Cobra quote 5.3kg for a full carbon Nogaro against 7.9kg for the fibreglass. Street Carbon has no slots, Circuit Carbon does, exactly as the fibreglass versions do. The Speedster is offered in wet lay carbon, which is a carbon layer over the fibreglass shell for the look rather than the weight.

08 / Tartan Edition

A Cobra and GSM thing

The centre panels go in tartan, with more than 27 setts to choose from and more added as they are woven. It suits classics, restomods and anyone who wants the seat to have some character. Same shells, so nothing changes about the fit.

Every Nogaro is Road and Track rather than FIA homologated, side mount only, and cut for a 32 to 36 inch waist. Prices are the starting price before trim and upgrade options, shown ex VAT to match the product cards. Check the specification tab on any product page for the current figures.

10 / Fitting

Side mounts, frames and runners

The seat is half the job. Every Nogaro is side mount only, so you need a pair of side mounts per seat and a subframe cut for your car. Add a sliding runner if you want fore and aft adjustment.

If your car is not on the frame list, ring us before you order anything. We can usually sort something, and it is a great deal easier before the parts are boxed and on their way to you.

11 / Questions

Common questions about the Nogaro

What is the difference between the Nogaro Street and the Nogaro Circuit?▾

Harness slots, and nothing else. The Circuit shell has two slots cut in the shoulders so a 4 or 6 point harness can be routed through it. The Street shell does not. Same size, same weight, same fitting. The slots cannot be added afterwards, so if there is any chance of a harness, order the Circuit.

Do I need a harness to use a Nogaro?▾

No. Every Nogaro is designed to work with your car’s original three point belt without modification. The slots are there for people who want a harness, not a requirement for everyone else.

Is the Nogaro FIA approved?▾

No, and it is not meant to be. The whole range is Road and Track. If a scrutineer is going to look at your car, you want the Cobra Motorsport range instead, which is approved to FIA 8855-1999.

Will I fit in a Nogaro?▾

Cobra size the full height shells for drivers over 6ft with a 32 to 36 inch waist. Those are the paper numbers and they only get you so far. We keep the range out on the floor, so the honest answer is to come and sit in one, or ring us with your height and waist and we will talk it through.

How much does a Nogaro weigh?▾

The full height fibreglass shell is 7.9kg. The Speedster, which has a lower back, is 7.5kg. Cobra quote 5.3kg for a full carbon shell. For comparison a steel framed Cobra Monaco is 11.4kg, which is the practical case for fibreglass in a car where weight is being watched.

Can I have a Nogaro heated?▾

Yes. A fitted seat heater and a pneumatic lumbar bag are both options on the fibreglass seats, ordered with the seat rather than added later. The heater comes with its own switch, relay and drilling template and needs a 12V feed. It is not designed to work with your car’s original seat heating.

What else do I need to fit one?▾

A pair of side mounts for each seat, plus a subframe cut for your car, and a sliding runner if you want fore and aft adjustment. Side mount seats cannot be base mounted. Tell us the car and we will quote the whole stack rather than leave you to work out which bracket goes where.

Can I have it trimmed in my own colours?▾

Yes, and that is one of the real advantages of Cobra building here. The seats are hand trimmed in the UK, so Amalfi, leather, Dinamica and tartan combinations are all on the table. Put your colours in at checkout and we will confirm the design with you before the seat is built.
