Nissan Silvia S14 Seen At Gravity Show 2024

Show car, September 2024

Among the cars on the SW Motorsport stand at Gravity 2024 was a blue Nissan Silvia S14 that we spent a good while looking at. It is a proper track build: a stripped interior, a full SW Motorsport roll cage, and a Sparco Circuit fibreglass seat with TRS FIA harnesses that match it nicely.

It is a popular set-up for a reason. A deep seat with head support and a well fitted harness keep the driver in place when the car is working hard, which is exactly what a stripped track car needs. Here is a closer look, plus the Sparco and TRS kit we have on display in the showroom.

  • Stripped interior with a full SW Motorsport roll cage
  • Sparco Circuit fibreglass seat with TRS FIA harnesses
  • Sparco Circuit and Circuit II are FIA 8855-1999 seats
  • We keep TRS FIA harnesses in stock with 2024 FIA dating

The S14 on the SW Motorsport stand

The S14 is set up for the track. The interior has been stripped back, a full SW Motorsport roll cage is fitted, and the driver sits in a Sparco Circuit with TRS FIA harnesses.

In a stripped car there is nothing soft left to hold you, so the seat has to do that job. The Circuit has a deep shell with head support, and together with a properly fitted harness it holds the driver in place through hard corners.

SW Motorsport had a busy stand. Next to the S14 they were showing a Toyota GR Yaris with a Pandem widebody kit and a full SW Motorsport cage, along with more of their roll cages to look over. We list SW Motorsport roll cages for a range of cars from makes including Ford, BMW and Volkswagen.

The Sparco Circuit in our showroom

We keep both the Sparco Circuit and the Circuit II on display to sit in, along with other popular Sparco seats such as the Sprint and the Evo.

Both are fibreglass seats made with Sparco’s QRT process, homologated to FIA 8855-1999, side mounted and HANS compatible. The difference is the shell width. The Circuit is cut for a 28 to 32 inch waist, and the Circuit II covers 32 to 40 inches. It is worth measuring your waist before choosing, because an inch either way makes a real difference to how the seat holds you.

TRS harnesses on display

We keep TRS harnesses with the latest 2024 FIA dating in the showroom, in 4 and 6 point versions, in red, blue and black. More colours are on our website, and we also keep TRS road harnesses in a range of colours.

Our TRS FIA harnesses are homologated for motorsport and come in different sizes of shoulder and lap strap, with different adjusters. Some are made for use with a HANS device: the shoulder straps narrow down where they sit on the HANS, which gives a better fit and more comfort. Garreth’s advice is to use a 2 inch shoulder harness with a HANS device.

If you are fitting a harness yourself, our guide to fitting a motorsport harness covers the mounting points and angles. You can see more cars from the weekend in our Gravity 2024 report.

Shell width: the Circuit suits a 28 to 32 inch waist and the Circuit II a 32 to 40 inch waist.

Yes. Both the Circuit and Circuit II QRT are homologated to FIA 8855-1999.

We recommend a harness with 2 inch shoulder straps, such as a TRS HANS version.
