Hyundai i30 N bucket seat guide
PD generation, 2017 onwards
This guide covers the i30 N, the performance hot hatch. It is the only i30 we stock vehicle-specific kit for; the subframe and both roll cage options below are built for the N and are not sold for the standard i30.
The N takes a direct-fit subframe from SW Motorsport for a full competition bucket seat, or a reclining sport seat on its own runners if you want to keep more of the factory comfort.
- The subframe and both roll cages in this guide are built for the i30 N specifically, not the standard i30. Confirm your car is an N before ordering vehicle-specific kit
- SW Motorsport supply the only direct-fit subframe for a competition bucket seat, in RHD driver or passenger side
- Reclining sport seats use their own runners and do not need the i30 N-specific subframe
- Two dedicated i30 N half cages available, from JP Cages and SW Motorsports
- Harnesses above 3-point need a roll cage or a properly engineered harness bar
Mounting
The SW Motorsport Direct Fit Subframe (part SWS-Hyundai-I30-N) is the only vehicle-specific mount we stock for this car, at £112.41. It bolts to the factory floor mounting points in place of the standard runners, and is available for RHD driver or passenger side. The seat then mounts to the frame directly or on side mounts, depending on the seat you choose.
If you are fitting a reclining sport seat rather than a fixed-back competition shell, most of the options below come on their own runners and do not need this subframe. Check the seat listing for what it includes before ordering the frame separately.

Competition bucket seats
The OMP TRS-E Velour at £199.50 and Cobra Monaco Pro at £235 are the accessible FIA-rated starting points. The Mirco RTS-2 Velour at £349 and RS2 3D Fibreglass at £354.50 sit a step up.
The OMP Champ-R at £318 is a lighter fibreglass option. The Sparco Evo L QRT at £510 and the OMP RT Carbon/Fibreglass at £589.97 are the premium options for an i30 N being built properly for competition.

Competition seats for the i30 NWhich bucket seat for a Hyundai i30 N
For a track day car, the OMP TRS-E Velour at £199.50 is the practical FIA-rated starting point on the subframe above. If the car sees contact, the Cobra Monaco Pro at £235 trades some weight for a steel shell. For an i30 N built properly for circuit work, the OMP RT Carbon/Fibreglass at £589.97 gives the strongest support through fast corners. Confirm side mount or dual mount fixing before ordering.
Reclining sport seats
If you want more comfort than a fixed-back shell, these reclining sport seats come on their own runners, so the i30 N subframe above is not needed. The Sparco R100 at £235 (also available in vinyl at £235) is the accessible starting point. The Sparco R500 Fabric at £274.16 and OMP RTS at £380 sit a step up.
Corbeau sell these as pairs: the Sportline RRB Black at £770, the Sportline RRS at £830, the PSR at £465, and the SVR Vinyl at £850.

Reclining seats for the i30 NWhich reclining seat for a Hyundai i30 N
The Sparco R100 at £235 is the sensible starting point, comfortable for road use with enough side support for a spirited drive. For a pair fitted together, the Corbeau PSR at £465 gives a genuine step up in bolster support without going to a fixed-back shell. All of these keep more factory comfort than a competition bucket, and none of them need the i30 N-specific subframe.
Roll cages
Two dedicated i30 N half cages: the JP Hyundai I30N Half Cage at £461, and the SW Motorsports Bolt In Half Roll Cage at £480.83. The JP Cages DIY Half Cage Kit at £295.62 is the budget option for a fitter comfortable doing the work themselves.

Harnesses
Harnesses need a roll cage or harness barA 4-point, 5-point or 6-point harness with separate shoulder straps needs proper attachment points above and behind the seat. Fit a roll cage or a properly engineered harness bar before using anything above a 3-point belt.
The TRS Clubman 3-point bolt-in at £80 and 4-point clip-in at £100 both use the standard seat belt anchor points and do not need a cage. For 4-point competition use, the TRS Magnum 4-point FIA at £205 and the Takata Drift II at £229 are the step up.
For 6-point harnesses, the cage goes in first. The TRS Magnum 6-point Superlite FIA at £245, the Takata Drift III at £270, and the Schroth Profi 3×2 at £370.01 all suit a caged i30 N going to competition or serious track days.

Common questions
Does this guide cover the standard i30, not just the N?
No. We do not stock a subframe or roll cage for the standard i30, only the N. Every vehicle-specific part in this guide is built for the N hot hatch.
Do I need the subframe for a reclining sport seat?
Usually not. The reclining seats in this guide come on their own runners. The subframe is for fitting a fixed-back competition bucket seat.
Which side does the subframe come in?
RHD driver side or RHD passenger side. Confirm which you need when ordering.
Can I run a 6-point harness without a roll cage?
No. A 6-point harness needs anchor points above and behind the seat for the shoulder straps. Fit a roll cage or a properly engineered harness bar first. A 3-point bolt-in harness uses the standard seat belt anchor points and does not need a cage.
Which roll cage should I choose?
The JP Cages DIY Half Cage Kit at £295.62 suits a confident home fitter. The JP Hyundai I30N Half Cage at £461 and the SW Motorsports Bolt In Half Roll Cage at £480.83 are supplied ready to fit.
