Honda Accord (2003-2007) bucket seat guide

2003 to 2007, UK market (CL7/CL9), including Type S and Euro R

The Accord name means two different cars in this period, and getting it right matters more than usual. Honda sold two entirely different cars badged Accord from 2003 to 2007. The North American one is a larger car that was never sold here. The car sold in the UK under the Accord name during those years is what Honda badged as the Acura TSX in the States, chassis CL7 and CL9. They do not share a floor and they do not share a fitting frame.

Most seat fitting frames listed as “Honda Accord” online are cut for the American car and are the wrong part for a UK Accord. This guide is built around the frames confirmed for the CL7/CL9, which the supplier lists under the Acura TSX name for exactly that reason. If you have a genuine US-import Accord, a separate section below covers the parts cut for that car instead.

The UK and Japanese Accord Type S and Euro R have the K20 engine and a properly sorted chassis, quick enough that the standard seat becomes the limit before anything else does. That is the version this guide is mostly written for, though the fitting frames apply to any CL7/CL9 Accord.

  • The UK Accord (2003-2007) is chassis CL7/CL9, badged Acura TSX in North America. The North American "Accord" of the same years is a different, bigger car with a different floor

Mounting: the UK Accord (CL7/CL9)

Most "Honda Accord" fitting frames are for the wrong carHonda sold two entirely different cars called Accord from 2003 to 2007. The one sold in the UK is listed under the Acura TSX name because that is its North American badge. If you search "Honda Accord seat bracket" and find a part with no TSX reference, it is very likely cut for the American car, which does not share a floor with yours. Send us the registration if you want it confirmed before ordering.

The Planted Technology bracket (132609, part SB178) at £185.50 is listed under the Acura TSX name, 2004 to 2008, and is confirmed for the CL7 and CL9, the Honda Accord sold in the UK during this period. This is the correct part for the car you actually have.

The PCI Racing sliding sub-frame (178032) at £275 is the alternative, also listed under the Acura TSX name. It includes a slider so the seat moves fore and aft after installation, suited to a car that is usually still doing road miles rather than being a dedicated track car.

BRIDE list genuine seat rails coded for the CL7 chassis, which matches this car. The FO (252568) and XR (252894) tiers at £220 and the FX (252616) at £230 are examples from that range; other trims are available.

Mounting: US-import Accord

For genuine American-market cars onlyThese frames are cut for the North American Accord, a different, larger car from the one sold new in the UK. Only use these if you have a genuine US-spec import, not a UK-market car.

The Planted [2 Door] bracket (141748) and [4 Door] bracket (141981), both £185.50, are cut for the American Accord coupe and saloon respectively. If you have imported a genuine US-spec Accord, these are the correct frames; send us the registration and body style to confirm before ordering.

For side mount on either car, the Sparco FIA steel brackets (13876) and Cobra steel side mounts (13891) both carry their own approval. The Cobra Premium sliding runners (120664) or Endurance Motorsport sliding runner kit (21512) add fore-aft adjustment. The Sparco sliding runner kit (14036) is a further option.

Competition bucket seats

Most seats here carry FIA 8855-1999 approval. The Cobra Suzuka T Pro-Fit at £561 is a premium option. The Cobra Monaco Pro at £235 is the accessible steel-shelled dual-mount alternative.

The OMP Champ-R at £318, OMP ARS-R at £428 and Mirco RS2 3D at £354.50 are fibreglass options. The Endurance Motorsport Club Sport at £209.79 and Circuit at £296.10 are accessible track day options. The Sparco Rev QRT at £345 and Evo QRT at £475 sit at the upper end, and the Auto Style Type RR at £254.60 rounds out the accessible options.

Harnesses

Harnesses need a roll cage or harness barA 4-point, 5-point or 6-point harness with separate shoulder straps needs proper attachment points above and behind the seat. Fit a roll cage or a properly engineered harness bar before using anything above a 3-point belt. No roll cage confirmed for this generation currently exists in the catalogue; contact us if you need one.

The TRS Clubman 3-point bolt-in at £80 and 4-point clip-in at £100 both use the standard seat belt anchor points and do not need a cage. For 4-point competition use, the TRS Magnum 4-point FIA at £205 and the Takata Drift II at £229 are the step up.

For 6-point harnesses, proper anchor points are needed first. The TRS Magnum 6-point Superlite FIA at £245, the Takata Drift III at £270, and the Schroth Profi 3×2 at £370 are all suitable once those points exist.
