Ginetta Junior, GT5 Challenge and club racing
The G40 is a purpose-built race car, not a road car converted for the track, and that changes the whole conversation around seats. The tub has its own fabricated seat mounting points and a factory-fitted roll cage, so there is no direct-fit sub-frame to choose. The seat bolts to the mounts already in the car via side mount brackets.

Mounting
The Sparco FIA steel side mount brackets (13876) at £75 and the Sabelt 3mm steel side mount brackets (14421) at £44.35 both bolt to the car’s factory seat mounting points. Both are FIA approved and fit side-mountable seats only, not base-mount seats, so check the seat’s mounting type before ordering.
Add the Sparco sliding runner kit (14036) if you need fore-aft adjustment.
Competition bucket seats
Most seats here carry FIA 8855-1999 approval. The OMP Champ-R at £318 and OMP RS-PT 2 at £425 are both fibreglass FIA options, the RS-PT 2 in velour trim, which runs cooler and sits softer against racewear than the Airtex fabric used elsewhere in the OMP range. The Mirco RS1 3D at £372 is a further fibreglass alternative.
The Tillett B6, in GRP at £793.80 or Carbon/GRP at £1014.30, is the seat most people end up in when they want a proper Tillett shell without paying for FIA paperwork they will not be asked for. It is compact and lightweight, built for performance and track day cars, and shell weight runs 4.5kg to 5.1kg (Tillett note weights can vary up to 10 percent).
The Sparco Rev QRT at £345, Circuit QRT at £440 and Evo QRT at £475 sit in the mid-range. The Sparco Ultra, in Fibreglass at £822.09 or Carbon at £1083.50, is a shell built for hard use, with a Sparco replacement padding kit available separately when the original wears. At the top, the Recaro Pole Position at £829.50 and Pole Position Carbon with ABE at £2346.75 are premium options for a car built to the highest standard.

For Ginetta Junior or club racing on a reasonable budget, the OMP Champ-R at £318 is a solid FIA-approved starting point, fibreglass and side mount. The Sparco Rev QRT at £345 is a close alternative if you want a Sparco shell instead. Harnesses
The G40’s factory roll cage already provides the anchor points a competition harness needs. The TRS Clubman 4-point clip-in at £100 and TRS Magnum 4-point FIA at £205 cover 4-point use. The Takata Drift II at £229 is the Takata 4-point option.
For 6-point harnesses, the TRS Magnum 6-point Superlite FIA at £245, the Takata Drift III at £270, and the Schroth Profi 3×2 at £370 are all suited to competition or serious track days on a car already equipped with a cage.

Common questions
Does the G40 need a direct-fit sub-frame?
No. The G40 is a purpose-built race car with its own fabricated seat mounting points already in the tub. Side mount brackets bolt straight to those points; there is no direct-fit sub-frame for this car the way there is for a converted road car.
Why is the Tillett B6 so popular for club racing?
It gives you a proper race shell without paying for FIA homologation paperwork most club racers will never be asked to produce. It holds you like a race seat but is civil enough to drive to the circuit in.
Do I need a roll cage separately?
No, the G40 comes with a factory-fitted roll cage. It already provides the anchor points a competition harness needs.
Are base-mount seats an option?
