Same shell as the standard B6, same shape, same widths, same 32 to 36 inch waist. What you are paying the extra £220 for is the carbon finish rather than black gloss GRP.
That is worth saying plainly, because the carbon B6 is often assumed to be the lighter one. Tillett quote the B6 at 4.5kg to 5.1kg across the range, so the saving over the GRP shell is small and inside the 10 per cent variance they allow on any seat. Buy this one because you want the carbon weave showing, not because you are chasing grams. If weight is genuinely the point, the B9 at 3.2kg is the seat to be looking at, and the B7 at 3.8kg if you also need FIA approval.
Everything else carries over. Rolled edges on at 44cm or cut off at 40cm, Dinamica headrest panel included, no padding required, side mounted, six point compatible, seat only.
Road and Track, not FIA. The Screamer version of the B6 is the homologated one.
If you are choosing between this and the GRP, and the car is a track toy that will collect brake dust and knee marks, the GRP is the sensible money. If it is a build you are proud of and the interior is on show, the carbon earns its keep. Give us a ring if you want a straight answer for your car. Part number TILX3HH8721.
Have you written anything about this exact product?
Yes, we have covered this exact product: Customer MNR Vortx with Tillett B6 Carbon Bucket Seats, and Tillett B6 Screamer Seat On Display In-Store. That is first-hand coverage from our own builds and showroom, not brochure copy.
Will I fit in this seat?
The maker sizes this seat for drivers with a 32in to 36in waist. Those are the paper numbers; how a seat actually feels to sit in and climb out of is a different question, and our showroom team sit in these seats every day, so call us with your height and waist and we will give you the honest answer.
Is this seat FIA approved?
No, this is a road and track day seat rather than a homologated competition seat. For events that require an FIA seat, look at the FIA-approved shells in the range, and ask us if you are unsure what your series needs.
What do I need to fit it to my car?
This is a side-mount seat: it hangs between side brackets, the motorsport-style stack with fine height and angle control. You will need the car-specific frame, and a sliding runner if you want fore-and-aft adjustment. Our guide on base mount versus side mount walks through the whole stack, and tell us your car and we will quote the full kit.
Does it work with harnesses and a HANS device?
The shell takes 6 point compatible. If you are planning the full seat, harness, and HANS setup, tell us the car and we will spec it end to end.
How do I know it will feel right, not just fit on paper?
Fair question, because makers publish widths and weights, never feel, and two seats with identical numbers can feel nothing alike in the car. We keep the ranges on display in the Nottingham showroom, you are welcome to come and sit in them, and if you cannot get to us, call and describe your build, as the team sit in these seats every day. Our head support measurements guide shows the kind of real-world data we collect.
Tillett seats are custom-made to order
These carbon seats are handcrafted in the UK for each order. We do not stock or display them in the showroom, so everything is a special order placed with Tillett when you buy.
Lead times depend on the model and the options you choose, so ring us before ordering if you are working to a date.
Special order
Because each seat is made for you, our special order terms apply once production has begun.
