Fiat Punto Mk2 bucket seat guide
1999 to 2010, including HGT and Sporting
Three Fiat Punto generations, three sets of fitting frames, and they do not interchange. The Mk2, built 1999 to 2010 and covering the HGT and Sporting, sits between the earlier Mk1 (1993-1999) and the later Grande Punto (2005 onwards). Both Sparco and OMP’s own product listings make the same point independently: check which generation you have before ordering, because the frames are not shared.
Three brands list a Mk2-specific sub-frame. Sparco and OMP both use the standard 345mm x 271mm base-mount pattern. Cobra list their own sub-frame on a different pattern entirely, 291mm x 330mm, so a Cobra seat needs the Cobra-branded frame rather than the Sparco or OMP one.
This guide covers those fitting frames, the seats that suit the HGT and Sporting, and the roll cages confirmed for this generation specifically.
- The Sparco (14812) and OMP (15738) sub-frames use the standard 345mm x 271mm pattern and are both confirmed for the Punto Mk2 (1999-2010) by name
- Cobra list their own Mk2-specific sub-frame (14333) on a different bolt pattern, 291mm x 330mm. A Cobra seat needs the Cobra frame, not the Sparco or OMP one
- The Cobra Nogaro steel side mounts (123880) are specific to the Nogaro shell and are not compatible with other Cobra seats. Pair them with the Cobra Nogaro Club Sport (115567) if you want that seat
- Both roll cages listed here are confirmed "2nd Series" on the manufacturer spec sheet. A separate Sparco cage exists for the Mk1 and is a different part; it is not included here
- Harnesses above 3-point need a roll cage or a properly engineered harness bar
Mounting
The Sparco direct-fit sub-frame (14812, part 00499021) at £72.23 brings the floor up to the 345mm x 271mm base-mount pattern, taking Sparco, OMP and Corbeau seats. Sparco’s own listing is explicit: the Mk1 Punto takes a different frame, so order on the generation rather than the model name.
The OMP direct-fit sub-frame (15738, part HC797) at £68.97 covers the same 345mm x 271mm pattern plus the larger 405mm x 290mm OMP pattern, adding Recaro compatibility. OMP’s listing spells out all three generations: 1993 to 1999 is the Mk1 and takes HC786, a Grande Punto from 2005 takes HC862, and everything between is this one.
Cobra list their own Mk2-specific sub-frame (14333) at £193.05, on their own 291mm x 330mm bolt pattern rather than the shared Sparco/OMP spacing. A Cobra base-mount seat needs this frame, not the Sparco or OMP one. If you are fitting a Cobra Nogaro shell specifically, the Cobra Nogaro steel side mounts (123880) at £65 are cut for that shell’s own side-mount geometry and are not compatible with the rest of the Cobra range.
For general side mount, the Sparco FIA steel brackets (13876) carry their own FIA approval. Add the Sparco sliding runner kit (14036) for fore-aft adjustment.

Competition bucket seats
Most seats here carry FIA 8855-1999 approval. The OMP TRS-E Velour at £199.50 and Cobra Monaco Pro at £235 are both dual-mount options at a similar price, the Cobra offering a steel shell. Remember the Cobra Monaco Pro needs the Cobra sub-frame or Cobra side mounts rather than the Sparco or OMP frame.
The Cobra Nogaro Club Sport at £524.17 pairs with the Nogaro-specific side mounts above. The OMP Champ-R at £318 is a lighter fibreglass FIA option, side mount and HANS-compatible. The Sabelt GT3 at £431, Sparco Grid Q at £365 and Sparco Evo QRT Sky at £510 sit at the upper end, suited to an HGT built for regular track use.

For a track day car, the OMP TRS-E Velour at £199.50 is the practical FIA-rated starting point, fitting either the OMP or Sparco sub-frame. If you want the Nogaro shell specifically, the Cobra Nogaro Club Sport at £524.17 pairs with its own dedicated side mounts. For an HGT built properly for circuit work, the Sparco Evo QRT Sky at £510 gives more support through fast corners. Reclining sport seats
Reclining sport seats are base mount on the Punto Mk2, fitting the Sparco, OMP or Cobra sub-frames above depending on brand. The Auto Style range covers the accessible end: the Type DS at £218.60, the Type AK at £235, and the Type JW at £245.60.
The Sparco R100 Martini Racing at £291.66 and Sparco R333 at £374.56 give a step up in lateral support. At the premium end, the Cobra Misano Anniversary at £1374.17 and the Misano Anniversary Spec 2 at the same price are both fibreglass recliners with a level of finish well beyond the mid-range options.
The Sparco SPR at £1549.12 is the seat at the very top of this range, suited to a Punto getting a full interior rebuild.

Roll cages
Confirm the generation on any cageA separate Sparco cage exists specifically for the Mk1 (1993-1999) and does not fit this Mk2. Both cages below are confirmed on the manufacturer spec sheet as "2nd Series", matching this generation.
The OMP bolt-in cage (18817) at £566.91 is an AB/105P series cage in FE45 steel, supplied in bare metal, with connecting sleeve tubes and door bars that need to be cut and welded on installation. The OMP weld-in cage (18818) at £1455.80 is the more involved installation, suited to a Punto Mk2 being built properly for competition.
Harnesses
Harnesses need a roll cage or harness barA 4-point, 5-point or 6-point harness with separate shoulder straps needs proper attachment points above and behind the seat. Fit a roll cage or a properly engineered harness bar before using anything above a 3-point belt.
The TRS Clubman 3-point bolt-in at £80 and 4-point clip-in at £100 both use the standard seat belt anchor points and do not need a cage. For 4-point competition use, the TRS Magnum 4-point FIA at £205 and the Takata Drift II at £229 are the step up.
For 6-point harnesses, the cage goes in first. The TRS Magnum 6-point Superlite FIA at £245, the Takata Drift III at £270, and the Schroth Profi 3×2 at £370 all suit a caged Punto Mk2 going to competition or serious track days.

No. A 6-point harness needs anchor points above and behind the seat for the shoulder straps. Fit a roll cage or a properly engineered harness bar first. A 3-point bolt-in harness uses the standard seat belt anchor points and does not need a cage.
