Top 5 reclining seat choices for your Aston Martin Vantage V8/V12, including our fitting guide

The V8 and V12 Vantage from 2005 to 2018 was built around driver involvement. The chassis deserved better seats than the factory shipped with, and most owners who have put the car through anything beyond a Sunday drive know it. The lateral support softens with mileage, the upholstery wears unevenly along the bolster edge, and the driving position was a compromise rather than a deliberate choice.

What most owners want is a seat with proper side support for the kind of driving the Vantage was designed for. A good recliner does that without giving up the everyday comfort a GT car needs on longer runs. All five below bolt to the same Cobra subframe, which was engineered specifically for this chassis generation.

  • One frame route for this car: the Cobra Vantage-specific direct-fit subframe
  • Cobra recliners via the 291mm bolt pattern; Corbeau recliners via 291mm or 345mm
  • Frame designed around the Cobra Nogaro; recliners use the narrower 291mm slot
  • One frame per seat position, priced individually, two needed for a pair

The frame route for the Vantage V8/V12

We stock one fitting frame for the 2005-to-2018 Vantage, built by Cobra specifically for this generation. It bolts to the factory mounting points rather than adapting a generic bracket, and it carries two bolt-pattern options in the same base. The wider slot, 405mm, was engineered around the Cobra Nogaro bucket and comes with 405mm sliders already fitted. For recliners, the 291mm slot is the route, and that is where every seat in this guide connects.

291

Cobra direct-fit subframe

Part 230452, £274.99 inc VAT a side. Sold per frame, so a driver-and-passenger installation means two in the basket. Covers 2005 to 2018. Nogaro sliders included as standard; Cobra and Corbeau recliners use the 291mm slot.

The number that decides it

Every reclining seat we sell connects through a base-mount bolt pattern, and on this car there is one that matters. The Cobra subframe is built around the 291mm x 330mm pattern, which is what Cobra recliners use. Corbeau recliners are drilled for both 291mm and 345mm, so they sit on the 291mm slot directly. No other frame for the Vantage is in the sportseats4u catalogue.

Pick the seat firstThen choose the runners that match its pattern. One frame goes in per seat position; a pair of seats needs two frames in the basket. If you are unsure which runner option your seat takes, Cameron works this out for customers before they order.

Cobra Misano Anniversary: the GT-grade pick

The Misano Anniversary is the seat Cameron would put in a Vantage without a second thought. The anniversary-spec backrest has a deeper shoulder section than the standard Misano, which holds the driver in the corners rather than relying on friction with a softening bolster. It arrives in trim options that suit the Vantage’s cabin rather than looking dropped in from a race car. Cobra’s hinge mechanism adjusts cleanly rather than ratcheting, which matters when the seat is going into a car that cost what this one cost. If the Vantage does regular circuit sessions, the shoulder depth makes a real difference over a flat-back alternative at this weight.

  • £1,649 inc VAT
  • 32 to 38 inch waist, all heights suitable
  • Anniversary-spec backrest: deeper shoulder support than the standard Misano
  • 4 point harness compatible
  • 291mm x 330mm: straight onto the Cobra subframe, 11.5 kg

Cobra Stuttgart Signature: built to your spec

The Stuttgart Signature is the better answer for a Vantage that still covers serious road miles alongside the occasional circuit. The upright backrest shape suits long motorway runs more naturally than the Misano’s track-forward angle, and Signature spec means you choose the trim: spacer fabric, vinyl, leather, contrast stitching, heated lumbar if you want it. If you know how the car will be used in three years and want the seat built around that rather than whatever was in stock when you ordered, this is the one to spend time configuring. Same 291mm frame route as the Misano, different personality.

  • £709 inc VAT in standard spec; built to order in Signature trim
  • 32 to 38 inch waist, all heights suitable
  • Signature spec: trim, stitching, and options chosen at order
  • 4 point harness compatible
  • 291mm x 330mm: straight onto the Cobra subframe, 13.2 kg

Corbeau Sportline RRS: Corbeau's benchmark recliner

The RRS is the seat Corbeau built its road-recliner reputation on, and it keeps appearing across every cobra-frame guide we write because it does the job cleanly at this price. The sculpted backrest gives real shoulder and hip support, noticeably more than a flat-back seat of similar width. It is drilled for both 291mm and 345mm, so it sits on the Cobra frame without needing any adapter. Cameron’s read on the comparison with the Cobra options: the RRS is the one to look at if you want two brands across the pair rather than matching Cobras, or if the Corbeau price sits better in the budget than the Stuttgart.

  • £600 inc VAT
  • 32 to 38 inch waist, all heights suitable
  • Drilled for both 291mm and 345mm; fits the Cobra subframe directly
  • 4 point harness compatible
  • Corbeau Sportline handle width runners needed separately

Cobra Daytona: the entry Cobra on this frame

The Daytona is where most people start with Cobra recliners, and on this frame it earns its place. The shoulder bolsters are shallower than the Stuttgart or the Misano, which suits drivers who want more lateral room or who move in and out of a low two-seater regularly at track days. It comes in cloth as standard and is the lightest of the three Cobra options in this guide. For a Vantage that does circuit evenings regularly and needs the seat honest at that job rather than doubled up as a touring seat, start here. The Misano is a step up in every direction, but the Daytona with the Cobra frame at this combined price is a coherent package.

  • £599 inc VAT
  • 32 to 38 inch waist, all heights suitable
  • Cloth trim as standard; shallower bolster than the Stuttgart
  • 4 point harness compatible
  • 291mm x 330mm: straight onto the Cobra subframe, 13.5 kg

Corbeau SVR: the low-roof option

The SVR is the seat to check first if headroom is a concern. The Vantage already positions the driver low, and the SVR’s lower base buys back the clearance a taller driver loses to the roofline when a standard-height seat goes in. The SVR backrest is smoother across the shoulders than the RRS: less sculpted, which some drivers prefer on longer runs. It is listed as a pair in vinyl, and at £510 each when bought as the pair it is the most cost-effective Corbeau option in this guide. If you are over six foot and the car covers regular road mileage, check your headroom with the SVR before committing to anything with a taller base.

  • £510 inc VAT each (£1,020 inc VAT the pair, vinyl)
  • 32 to 38 inch waist, all heights suitable
  • Lower base than the RRS; gains headroom for taller drivers
  • 4 point harness compatible
  • 291mm or 345mm: fits the Cobra subframe directly

Getting it bolted down

The Cobra frame bolts to the Vantage’s factory mounting points; no drilling on a standard floor. It is priced per side, so a driver-and-passenger installation means two frames at £274.99 inc VAT each. The 405mm sliders come with the frame as standard, fitted for the Cobra Nogaro bucket configuration. Cobra and Corbeau recliners connect through the 291mm slot, and the runners between seat and frame are sold separately.

One thing to know about this particular frame: Cobra designed it specifically around the Nogaro, and they recommend telling us which seat you are fitting before you order if it is anything else. We have worked through the common combinations enough times that the main questions are in the FAQ below, but for an unusual trim or driver setup, call before you pay for anything.

Check seat belt buckle clearance before you drive; a sport seat often puts the buckle somewhere new. Torque the floor bolts properly on installation and recheck after the first 500 miles.

The SVR is sold as a pair; the per-seat figure assumes a two-seat installation. Waist and height figures are the manufacturers’ published fitment ranges.

Common questions

Do I need to drill the floor of my Aston Martin Vantage?

Not on a standard floor. The Cobra frame bolts to the factory mounting points on the 2005-to-2018 Vantage V8 and V12. Torque the floor bolts properly and check the seat belt buckle clearance before you drive, because a sport seat often puts the buckle somewhere new.

This frame was designed for the Cobra Nogaro. Can I still fit a reclining seat?

Yes. The frame carries two bolt-pattern options. The 405mm slot with its included sliders was built for the Nogaro bucket. The 291mm slot is the route for recliners, and Cobra and Corbeau recliners both connect there. Tell us which seat you are fitting when you order and we will confirm everything lines up before you spend anything.

Will these seats take a 4 point harness?

Every seat in this guide is listed as 4 point compatible by its manufacturer, with belt slots in the backrest. If you are planning a harness installation, let us know when you order and we will check the whole setup works together before anything ships.

Is there a post about Recaro seats in the Aston Martin Vantage?

Yes, separately. We answered a question about fitting a Recaro Sportster CS to a 2007 Aston Martin V8 Vantage in an earlier post. The Cobra frame in this guide does not offer a Recaro route directly; that post covers a different frame configuration. You can read it here: Customer Question: Recaro Sportster CS in a 2007 Aston Martin V8 Vantage?

Why is the frame sold per side?

Each frame mounts one seat, driver side or passenger side. A two-seat installation needs two frames in the basket. Both sides are listed as product 230452; tell us at checkout which position you need if it is just one side, or add two if you are doing both.

What I would actually buy

If it were my money: the Misano Anniversary if the budget allows it. The shoulder depth suits a Vantage and the trim options let you match the interior without a custom order. The Stuttgart Signature if the car covers enough road miles that everyday comfort matters and you want to spec the seat to your setup rather than accept whatever is in stock. Between the Corbeaus, the RRS at £600 each is where I would start, and the SVR if you are over six foot and the factory seating position is already eating your headroom.

Every combination in this guide uses parts that bolt to the Vantage’s factory mounting points. If you are between two seats or between sizes, call us before you order and Cameron can talk it through. We are on 0115 9893488.
