JK, 2007 to 2018, four-door Unlimited
This guide covers the JK four-door, known as the Unlimited, built 2007 to 2018. The JK seat sits on a raised pedestal from the factory, and the bracket you choose decides whether you keep that height or drop below it.
Planted Technology currently stock the passenger side bracket only. If you need the driver side, ask us, it is available to order.
- Two bracket heights are available for the passenger side: SB165 keeps the seat at roughly the standard pedestal height, SB247 LOW bypasses the pedestal and drops it further
- The LOW bracket is worth considering if you are tall, wear a helmet, or run a cage or hard top
- Planted stock the passenger side bracket only. The driver side is available to order, ask us
- Universal sliding runners from Sparco, Recaro and Cobra give the fixing options for the reclining sport seats
- Harnesses above 3-point need a roll cage or a properly engineered harness bar

Mounting
The JK seat sits on a raised pedestal from the factory. The standard height bracket, SB165, at £185.50, keeps the seat and mounts on top of that pedestal. The LOW bracket, SB247, bypasses the pedestal and goes straight to the floor, which drops the seat considerably further. The two are not alternatives for the same result: pick SB165 for roughly standard height, or SB247 LOW if you are tall, wear a helmet, or run a cage or hard top.
Both brackets are passenger side only. If you need the driver side, ask us, it can be ordered.
For seats that use their own runners rather than a vehicle-specific bracket, the Sparco Seat Sliding Runner Kit at £34.95, the Recaro Double Locking Sliding Runners at £139.12 and the Cobra Premium Sliding Runners at £70 give fore-aft adjustment.

If you are running the standard soft top or hard top with no cage, the SB165 at £185.50 keeps you close to factory height and is the simpler choice. If you are tall, wearing a helmet regularly, or running a cage or hard top that eats into headroom, the SB247 LOW at a similar price is worth the extra drop. Reclining sport seats
The Sparco R100 at £235 and Auto Style Type AK at £235 are the accessible starting points. The Auto Style Type JW at £245.60, Type RK at £257.50, Sparco R333 at £374.56 and Sparco GT at £421.58 sit a step up.
The Cobra Daytona at £499.17, Recaro Speed at £834.75, and Recaro Cross Sportster CS at £1323 are premium reclining seats with strong lateral support. The Cobra Misano Anniversary at £1374.17 is the top of the range.

Harnesses
Harnesses need a roll cage or harness barA 4-point, 5-point or 6-point harness with separate shoulder straps needs proper attachment points above and behind the seat. Fit a roll cage or a properly engineered harness bar before using anything above a 3-point belt.
The TRS Clubman 3-point bolt-in at £80 and 4-point clip-in at £100 both use the standard seat belt anchor points and do not need a cage. For 4-point use, the TRS Magnum 4-point FIA at £205 and the Takata Drift II at £229 are the step up.
For 6-point harnesses, the cage goes in first. The TRS Magnum 6-point Superlite FIA at £245, the Takata Drift III at £270, and the Schroth Profi 3×2 at £370.01 all suit a caged Wrangler going to serious off-road events or competition.

Common questions
Can I get a driver side bracket?
Yes, ask us. We only list the passenger side as a standard product, but the driver side can be ordered.
Which bracket height should I choose?
SB165 keeps the seat close to the standard pedestal height. SB247 LOW bypasses the pedestal for a considerably lower seating position, worth it if you are tall, wear a helmet, or run a cage or hard top.
Will this fit the two-door Wrangler JK?
No, this bracket is for the four-door Unlimited only. The two-door JK uses a different Planted bracket, ask us if you need that one confirmed.
Can I run a 6-point harness without a roll cage?
No. A 6-point harness needs anchor points above and behind the seat for the shoulder straps. Fit a roll cage or a properly engineered harness bar first. A 3-point bolt-in harness uses the standard seat belt anchor points and does not need a cage.
