The VW Polo Mk2 continued the idea of the Polo as the lighter, more agile alternative to the Golf, building on the character that made the earlier cars so enjoyable to drive. With its compact size and simple mechanical layout, the Mk2 has become a popular choice for fast road builds and track day projects where handling and driver feedback matter more than outright power.
Once you start pushing a Polo Mk2 harder, the limitations of the original seats become obvious. Through corners, you may find yourself gripping the steering wheel more tightly than normal, bracing your legs against the centre console or door card, and sliding around in the seat. This often leads to constant readjustment after each corner, which quickly becomes distracting and tiring.
In a properly set up car, the seat should do the work of supporting your body. You should be able to hold the steering wheel purely for steering, with your legs and upper body held securely in place and no unwanted movement through corners. - Our Corbeau sub-frame features a seat belt mount, perfect for daily use or track day use where drivers can use their factory seat belt and have the option to use a racing harness at the same time.
- Our Corbeau and OMP frames use a 345mm wide bolt pattern used on all standard-sized side-mounted bucket seats, with the additional wider 405mm bolt pattern only featured on the OMP frame for XL bucket seats.
- We can only recommend base-mounted Cobra bucket seats or sports recliners with the Cobra sub-frame, as they all share the same 291mm wide bolt pattern that isn’t used by other brands.
