The B6 Screamer GRP XL is the wider version of the FIA-homologated Screamer shell in fibreglass construction. If the standard Screamer at 40 cm without rolled edges is narrow for you, the XL adds 30 mm to the inside, making it 43 cm without rolled edges and 47 cm with them on.
Shell is GRP (fibreglass), black. SKU B6SXL-43GRP. The FIA 8855-1999 homologation covers both edge cuts on the Screamer, so whether you run the 43 cm or 47 cm configuration, you are inside the approval. Tillett quote 5.8 to 6.1 kg across the Screamer range with up to 10 per cent variation between shells. The seat mounts by side mount only, takes a 6-point harness, and is confirmed for HANS device use at 30 degrees.
The difference between this and the B6 Screamer XL Carbon is the shell material. GRP runs slightly heavier than carbon and GRP but costs less. In club racing where the car has a minimum weight requirement, saving a kilogram in the seat has limited effect. If the FIA ticket matters and the weight does not, this is the more affordable XL Screamer.
If the standard width works for you, the B6 Screamer in standard carbon and GRP or GRP is listed separately. If you need the extra room in the XL shell and want carbon, the B6 XL Screamer Carbon is the alternative at the same price as this seat.
Headrest cushion and Dinamica faux suede panels available as options.
Have you written anything about this exact product?
Yes, we have covered this exact product: Tillett B6 Screamer Seat On Display In-Store. That is first-hand coverage from our own builds and showroom, not brochure copy.
Will I fit in this seat?
This is the XL version of the shell, cut wider than the standard seat. Tillett do not publish per-model driver limits for the XL shells, so rather than guess, send us your height and waist and we will confirm against the actual seat.
Is it FIA approved, and for how long?
Yes, it carries FIA 8855-1999 homologation. Every FIA seat has a not-valid-after year printed on its homologation label, and that label date is what a scrutineer checks, so look at the label on the seat you receive and check it against your championship regulations. Buying new means you get the freshest label the maker currently produces.
What do I need to fit it to my car?
This is a side-mount seat: it hangs between side brackets, the motorsport-style stack with fine height and angle control. You will need the car-specific frame, and a sliding runner if you want fore-and-aft adjustment. Our guide on base mount versus side mount walks through the whole stack, and tell us your car and we will quote the full kit.
Does it work with harnesses and a HANS device?
The shell takes 6 point compatible. If you are planning the full seat, harness, and HANS setup, tell us the car and we will spec it end to end.
How do I know it will feel right, not just fit on paper?
Fair question, because makers publish widths and weights, never feel, and two seats with identical numbers can feel nothing alike in the car. We keep the ranges on display in the Nottingham showroom, you are welcome to come and sit in them, and if you cannot get to us, call and describe your build, as the team sit in these seats every day. Our head support measurements guide shows the kind of real-world data we collect.
