The 8L shares its floor widely

The first generation A3 sits on the same platform as a great deal of that VW era, which is why this frame carries the HC780 base number rather than one of its own.

In practice that means the Golf Mk4, Bora, Seat Leon Mk1 and Ibiza Mk2 6K are all in the same family, along with the Golf Mk3, Lupo GTI and Polo Mk2.

If you have seen a seat working in one of those, ask us and we will confirm whether it carries over before you buy.

Why Recaro matters on an Audi

More than on most cars. Plenty of A3 owners want to stay with Recaro shells, either because the car came with them or because that is the look they are after.

An OMP frame takes them. The plates carry multi-hole clusters at each corner, giving both the 345mm by 271mm spacing that Sparco, OMP and Corbeau use and the wider 405mm by 290mm Recaro pattern. A Sparco frame gives you only the first.

Fitting and ordering

Steel, base mount, on the floor points already in the car. Nothing is drilled and the original seats come out whole and can go back in.

Sold singly and handed. Choose RHD driver or RHD passenger, and order twice for both sides. Mention whether the factory seats carry side airbags when you order.

What's included?

What will be in the box? There are several types of seat frames which may be supplied depending on the vehicle and application. You may receive 1 of the following 4 types. If you are using them with a certain seat, please contact us in advance for professional advice.

#2. A full replacement frame with a sliding runner
#3. A full replacement frame only
#4. An adaption bracket kit

Additional seat belt brackets: Each seat frame can be used for a variety of applications including road car reclining seats throuh to Motorsport FIA seats. Seat belt brackets are not required in a range of application so manufacturers generally do not supply them with their frame kits. If you require seat belt brackets please contact us in advance

Bolt point tolerances:

Please note that OMP, Sparco and various other brands have a +/- 10mm tolerance on the bolt point locations on each of their sub-frames. This means that when installing the equipment into your vehicle, you may find that one or more of the bolt points may need extending for a perfect fit.

This is normal and, when installed by a skilled professional, it may only add five minutes to the total installation time. A prime example is the OMP Renault Clio MK3 frames and the BMW E46 frames as two bolt points need extending by 5mm in 75% of installations.

Drilling of frames and equipment may be required to complete your installation.

Matching seats and frames:

There are over half a dozen different bolt patterns in the industry for base mounted seats. There are over 30 different bolt patterns for side mounted seats. Aftermarket frames from different brands will have different bolt location points.

Seats and frames are not a direct fit between brands. Seat frames are also not suitabled for OEM seats (Fitted into a vehicle from the factory) Please ensure to contact us for professional advice before purchasing your seat frames. We will be able to provide you a recommendation as to which seat frame is right for which seat.

Will I fit in this seat?
Send us your height and waist size and we will confirm the fit. how a seat actually feels to sit in is a different question, and our showroom team sit in these seats every day, so call us and we will give you the honest answer.

What do I need to fit it to my car?
The car-specific frame for your vehicle, plus a sliding runner if you want fore-and-aft adjustment. Our guide on base mount versus side mount walks through the whole stack, and tell us your car and we will quote the full kit.

How do I know it will feel right, not just fit on paper?
Makers publish widths and weights, never feel, and two seats with identical numbers can feel nothing alike. We keep the ranges on display in the showroom, you are welcome to come and sit in them, and our head support measurements guide shows the kind of real-world data we collect.

Availability

OMP deliveries arrive every two weeks

OMP produce in batches and we receive their products on a fortnightly basis, so their most popular seats, harnesses and equipment are generally available for quick dispatch.

Reclining sport seats and less common trims are brought in to order, so those take longer.

Tell us when you order and we will confirm the current lead time before you commit, rather than leaving you to find out afterwards.
