TRS’s entry-level four-point for the Mazda MX-5 Mk1 and Mk2. Two inch (50mm) webbing, push-button clip buckle, shoulder straps cut shorter for the MX-5 at roughly 105cm from the adjuster against around 150cm on a standard belt. Part number MH340-300-MX5.
The shorter shoulder straps wrap around a harness bar or cage bar behind the seat. Once wrapped, the three-bar slide sits close to the fixing point with no loose webbing sitting behind. The MX-5 has no factory shoulder anchor; a bar is required for this harness to work. Eye bolts for the lap straps are supplied, threading into the factory seatbelt floor anchor positions.
The clip buckle is the push-button type rather than an aircraft rotary release. For a car used daily on the road, the clip buckle feels more like a normal seatbelt buckle and is easier for anyone who is not a regular track driver. For a track-day-only car where quick release matters more, the Magnum version (MH229-0003-MX5, £179) uses an aircraft rotary buckle and wider 3 inch webbing. Both are four-point; the Magnum costs more for the wider strap and aircraft buckle, not for any additional safety approval.
Road and track approved; not FIA. Not a competition harness. For FIA six-point for sprints or circuit racing, see the TRS FIA harnesses in the MX-5 range. Listed for Mk1 (NA) and Mk2 (NB) only; call before ordering for Mk3 (NC) or Mk4 (ND). Ten webbing colours available. Sold as a single belt; the black clip-in pair listing (B40M-MX5-X2) covers both seats at the same combined price.
