Why the seat matters on this car in particular

The MPS puts a great deal of torque through the front wheels and it is famous for what that does to the steering. A driver who is bracing against the seat with their arms is not steering the car cleanly, and on a car that already fights you under power that costs real time. Being held in place by the seat rather than by the wheel is the whole point.
