The fully split arrangement
Backrest and base both in two sections, so each side of the rear seat is independent. This is the configuration to order only if your car actually has it, because trim cut for a split base will not sit on a solid one.
It is also the one that costs more. A split backrest over a whole base is priced the same as a solid bench; splitting the base is the step that adds money.
Vinyl, and the practical case for it
A fully split rear seat exists so the car can carry things, and a car that carries things wants the trim that survives it.
Vinyl is the only material here that takes claws, wet boots and whatever comes through from the boot without marking. It wipes clean afterwards, which none of the soft options do.
It also handles the sun through the rear screen, which is the harshest position for trim in any car, better than leather or alcantara.
