Direct fit subframes for the Toyota GR Yaris, built to bolt onto the car’s original seat mounting points.

A fitting frame is the vehicle specific base that replaces the standard seat runners. The seat mounts to the frame, either directly or on side mounts, and the frame is what sets your final seat height and how far back you can sit.

The runners are included

The sliding runner comes with the frame at no extra cost, so the seat still slides once it is fitted.

That is a real difference rather than a detail. Sparco, Planted, OMP, Recaro and Corbeau all sell the runner separately, so compare the complete cost rather than the frame price when you are choosing between makers.

Coming out of a standard GR seat

The GR Yaris already leaves the factory with a supportive seat, so people fitting a bucket here are usually after harness compatibility, a lower hip point, or shell support that a road seat cannot give under sustained load.

Be clear with yourself about which of those you want, because it changes the seat. If it is harness use, the seat needs the right slots and you need to think about the belts at the same time. If it is height, the frame is doing most of that work and the seat choice matters less than you would think.

What's included?

What will be in the box? There are several types of seat frames which may be supplied depending on the vehicle and application. You may receive 1 of the following 4 types. If you are using them with a certain seat, please contact us in advance for professional advice.

#1. A full replacement frame with a sliding runner and resisitor kit
#2. A full replacement frame with a sliding runner
#3. A full replacement frame only
#4. An adaption bracket kit

Additional seat belt brackets: Each seat frame can be used for a variety of applications including road car reclining seats throuh to Motorsport FIA seats. Seat belt brackets are not required in a range of application so manufacturers generally do not supply them with their frame kits. If you require seat belt brackets please contact us in advance

Bolt point tolerances:

Please note that OMP, Sparco and various other brands have a +/- 10mm tolerance on the bolt point locations on each of their sub-frames. This means that when installing the equipment into your vehicle, you may find that one or more of the bolt points may need extending for a perfect fit.

This is normal and, when installed by a skilled professional, it may only add five minutes to the total installation time. A prime example is the OMP Renault Clio MK3 frames and the BMW E46 frames as two bolt points need extending by 5mm in 75% of installations.

Drilling of frames and equipment may be required to complete your installation.

Matching seats and frames:

There are over half a dozen different bolt patterns in the industry for base mounted seats. There are over 30 different bolt patterns for side mounted seats. Aftermarket frames from different brands will have different bolt location points. 

Seats and frames are not a direct fit between brands. Seat frames are also not suitabled for OEM seats (Fitted into a vehicle from the factory) Please ensure to contact us for professional advice before purchasing your seat frames. We will be able to provide you a recommendation as to which seat frame is right for which seat.

Do I keep fore-and-aft adjustment?
Yes, and unlike most brands the sliding runner comes included with a Cobra frame, in the price. That changes the like-for-like comparison against other makers, where the runner is a separate part on top. Our guide to sliding runners covers how they work.

Base mount or side mount, and does it matter?
This is a base-mount frame: the seat bolts down through its base, the simpler stack that suits seats with a flat bottom and keeps the install low-fuss. Our guide on base mount versus side mount explains the whole fitting stack.

Cobra seats are handcrafted in the UK

Each seat is built to the specification you choose, which is why the wait is what it is: on average around 4 to 6 weeks, depending on the trim and options.

Cobra do not allow queue jumping. Orders are produced in the order they are received, so the earlier yours is placed the earlier it is built.

Made to your specification

Because each seat is made for your order rather than picked off a shelf, a made-to-specification seat cannot be cancelled once it is in production, and our special order terms apply.
