An OMP direct fit subframe for the Rover MG ZR. Part number HC846-2702.
The MG ZR is the Rover 25 with the MG treatment, and if you have a Rover 25 rather than a ZR, send us the registration and we will confirm this frame suits it. Underneath they are the same car.
Parts supply is the practical issue
MG Rover has been gone for two decades and nobody is making new interior parts. A bolt in subframe that needs nothing fabricated is worth more on a car like this than on one with a healthy supply chain, and it means the original seats come out whole so you can keep them.
Why people still build them
They are close to free and the 160 is genuinely quick for what it is. There is a small, committed following running them in club events.
Check the floor first
These rust and few have been cherished. Lift the carpet and look at the metal round the mounting points before you spend anything.
What else you need
Side mounts and the seat. The plates carry multi-hole clusters at each corner, which gives two bolt patterns. Sparco, OMP and Corbeau base mount seats all bolt to the 345mm by 271mm spacing, and Recaro to the wider 405mm by 290mm, so factory Recaros can be reused. Cobra are the exception at 291mm by 330mm and need multi hole side mounts. Order twice for a pair.
Will this fit my car?
This frame is made for the Rover MG ZR. Chassis code and years matter more than the badge, as floor pans change between generations, so if your car sits near a changeover year, send us the registration and we will confirm before you order.
Which seats does it take?
It takes seats drilled 345mm x 271mm (the Sparco and OMP seat pattern) and 405mm x 290mm (the Recaro seat pattern). If your seat is not listed, tell us what you run and we will confirm the fit.
Do I keep fore-and-aft adjustment?
Only with a sliding runner between the frame and the seat, which is a separate part on OMP frames. If more than one person drives the car, budget for the runner. Our guide to sliding runners explains the options and widths.
Base mount or side mount, and does it matter?
This is a base-mount frame: the seat bolts down through its base, the simpler stack that suits seats with a flat bottom and keeps the install low-fuss. Our guide on base mount versus side mount explains the whole fitting stack.
Is this for the driver or passenger side?
Both sides are available on this listing, pick driver or passenger side at the point of order (sides listed are for right-hand-drive cars). Left-hand-drive car? Ask us, as the sides swap over and availability varies by model.
