The Mercedes-Benz R-Class was built from 2006 to 2013 as a large luxury MPV on the W251 platform, which it shared with the W211 E-Class. It was sold in six-cylinder, eight-cylinder, and diesel forms, with both 4Matic all-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive available. The R-Class was a slow seller in Europe but found a strong market in China and the United States. Its front row is a genuine long-distance driving position in a very large vehicle.
Part number 688419 is the Recaro direct-fit sub-frame for the R-Class. It attaches at the W251’s factory floor mounting points in the front row and provides fore-aft sliding adjustment. The R-Class floor is a large-platform Mercedes design, separate from the C-Class or E-Class seating geometry despite sharing architecture elements with the W211.
R-Class owners fitting Recaro seats are typically doing so for the driver’s position on a car used for long-distance travel. The R-Class was a motorway vehicle in most configurations, and the standard seats, while comfortable, lack the lateral support of a Recaro Sport or Sportster CS on extended drives.
This sub-frame works with Recaro seats only and covers base-mountable bucket seats and reclining sport seats. Side-mounted competition shells need separate hardware. Pricing is for one frame, one position. Contact us with your Recaro model when ordering.
