The Focus Mk2 has been a staple track day car for fifteen years, and the seat question has not changed in that time. The factory seats hold you well enough at motorway speeds. They are less convincing once you start pushing the car: the bolstering is soft, they sit you higher than they need to, and after a few track sessions the centres start to show it. The Sparco sub-frame bolts straight to the factory floor mounting points without any drilling, and every seat below uses it.
The sub-frame fits the Focus Mk2 from 2005 onwards, including the 2008 facelift cars that the queue refers to as the ’08-. It is a base mount setup at 345mm x 271mm, which takes Sparco recliners directly and Corbeau recliners through the same holes, because Corbeau drill their bases for both standard patterns.

There is one frame route we sell for the Focus Mk2, and it is the Sparco one. A fitting frame replaces the factory seat runners, bolts to the same four floor mounting points, and sets your new seat height. The Sparco sub-frame lowers the seat by a meaningful amount compared to standard, which is something you feel immediately in how the car responds through a corner. This choice comes first, because it decides which seats can go in.
Part 004990681, £111.00 inc VAT per side. Sold individually; driver side and passenger side are listed separately. A pair of seats means two sub-frames in the basket. Takes all 345mm x 271mm pattern seats, and Corbeau recliners (drilled for both patterns) bolt straight onto the same 345mm holes.
Every reclining seat bolts down through a base mount pattern. On this car there is one that matters: 345mm x 271mm, which is the Sparco pattern. The Corbeau PSR and RRS are drilled for both 291mm and 345mm, so they go onto the sub-frame through the 345mm holes. All five seats in this guide use the same sub-frame.
| Seat | Bolt pattern | Sparco sub-frame |
|---|---|---|
| Sparco R500 | 345 x 271 | Fits |
| Corbeau PSR | 291 or 345 | Fits |
| Corbeau Sportline RRS | 291 or 345 | Fits |
| Sparco R333 | 345 x 271 | Fits |
| Sparco SPX | 345 x 271 | Fits |
Most Focus Mk2 owners who come through the showroom end up on the R500. It does everything the R100 does but with more shoulder support and a taller backrest, and the dual density foam is what makes it worth the step up: it holds its shape after a couple of seasons, where a cheaper foam starts to compress at the base. Two trim options, fabric or Sky, which is Sparco’s name for vinyl. The choice is practical rather than cosmetic. Sky wipes clean; fabric breathes on a hot day in a closed car. Cameron’s usual recommendation for a track-day hatch that sees rain is the Sky pair. It is easier to care for, and at £349.00 inc VAT for two seats, there is budget left for the sub-frames and the runner kit.
The PSR is the seat Corbeau built for buyers who want something better than standard without the full Sportline price. At £558.00 inc VAT for the pair, it is the most bought Corbeau pair we list, and it is a real seat: steel frame, cloth trim, recline and tilt, listed in driver and passenger side versions in the same listing. What it is not is a lateral support specialist. At this price you are buying a durable recliner that holds you better than standard. It fits on the Sparco sub-frame through the 345mm holes on the Corbeau base, same as the Sparco seats. Heated inserts, double locking runners and an inflatable lumbar are all available through the Corbeau options menu.
The RRS is where the Sportline range starts to feel serious. The backrest is shaped rather than flat, the vinyl is thicker than the PSR’s cloth, and the side support is noticeably firmer. At £984.00 inc VAT for the pair, the jump from the PSR is real, and what you get is a seat that handles a proper track season without looking worn at the end of it. The Sportline base is drilled for both bolt patterns, same as the PSR, so it goes straight onto the Sparco sub-frame. Tartan and heated versions are listed alongside on the site; the base is the same seat throughout the RRS range. Cameron tends to point Focus drivers at the RRS when the car does six or more track evenings a year and they want the seat to last the distance.
The R333 is the seat for someone who wants the lateral grip of a deep bolstered seat but not the cost of the SPX. The shoulder and thigh bolsters are noticeably more aggressive than the R500’s, and the double adjustment lever on the recline mechanism moves through its range faster, which matters in a car you are getting in and out of at a circuit. One thing to be straight about before you order: the R333 is published at 32 to 36 inch waist and under six foot. That is a real limit, not a conservative one. If you sit at the edge of those numbers, ask us before spending anything. The pair is temporarily out of stock; the single is available at £449.47 inc VAT.
The SPX is at a different level to everything else in this guide. Carbon fibre backrest, composite lower section, Italian leather with Alcantara inserts where the seat needs to breathe, and the whole thing comes in at around 12kg. Sparco built it to the same specification they supply to car manufacturers for OEM supercar seats, and the feel in the car reflects that. Two things to know before ordering. First, there is no head support and no extension option: if you are running a harness rather than standard belts, you need a harness bar or cage bar to manage the belt geometry behind this seat. Second, nobody who has driven on one says they wish they had spent less. At £2,815.79 inc VAT per seat, that is a specific kind of reassurance.
The Sparco sub-frame bolts to the Focus Mk2’s factory seat mounting points without drilling the floor. Driver side and passenger side are separate listings (product 14840, £111.00 inc VAT each), so a pair of seats means two sub-frames in the basket. Torque the floor bolts properly and check seat belt buckle clearance once the seat is in: a sport seat moves the buckle’s resting position relative to standard.
The sub-frame does not include sliding runners. For fore-aft adjustment between the frame and seat, add the Sparco sliding runner kit (product 184229, £78.00 inc VAT for the pair). This kit works with all five seats in this guide, since they all mount at the 345mm x 271mm pattern. When you order, tell us the seat you are fitting. Garreth and Cameron check the combination-specific stack height details before anything is shipped, and it is easier to do that upfront. We have also written up what you need to fit a Recaro Sportster CS in the Focus Mk2 if that is the route you are considering: the guide is here, as the Recaro uses a different sub-frame approach not covered in this page.

Prices include VAT and were correct on 8 October 2026. The SPX weight is Sparco’s published figure. Where a weight says not published, the manufacturer does not list one and we will not guess it. Waist and height figures are the manufacturers’ published fitment ranges; if you are on a boundary, ask before ordering.
No. The Sparco sub-frame bolts to the factory seat mounting points. Torque the floor bolts to spec and check the seat belt buckle clearance once the seat is in, because a sport seat moves the buckle relative to where it sat on the standard runners.
Driver side and passenger side are separate product listings at the same price. If you are fitting both seats, add the sub-frame to your basket twice: once with RHD driver side selected and once with RHD passenger side. Tell us the seat going on each position when you order and we will confirm the fitment details for both before shipping.
Yes. Corbeau drill their recliner bases for both 291mm x 330mm and 345mm x 271mm, so the PSR and the RRS go straight onto the Sparco sub-frame through the 345mm holes. No adaptor plates, no modifications required.
Every seat in this guide is listed by the manufacturer as 4 point compatible, with harness slots in the backrest. If you are planning a harness with the SPX in particular, mention it when you order: that seat has no head support, so Cameron can confirm the belt geometry works for your setup before anything is shipped.
A fixed back suits the car more when track use outweighs road use, and it saves some weight. We have not yet published a separate bucket seat guide for the Focus Mk2, but drop us an email or click to open a chat and Cameron can work out which buckets fit the same Sparco sub-frame for this chassis.
If it were my money on a Focus Mk2 that does road and occasional track evenings: the Sparco R500 Sky pair. At £349.00 inc VAT for the two seats, it is the sharpest value in this guide. The foam holds up across a season, the vinyl wipes clean, and it is a straightforward road-and-track seat with no size caveats. Budget the £222.00 inc VAT for both sub-frames and the £78.00 for the runner kit alongside it and you have a complete install for just over £650.00.
If the car does regular track use and you want something that holds you harder: the R333 for drivers under six foot with a 32 to 36 inch waist, the Corbeau RRS pair if you are outside those numbers. For both seats sorted in one order at entry level, the Corbeau PSR pair at £558.00 is the one that comes up most in conversations here. And for the best seat on this page, no argument from anyone who has sat in one, it is the SPX.
