The TT Mk2 already sits you low with a proper cockpit-style dash around you, so most owners assume the factory seat is doing its part. It copes fine for the commute. It copes less well once you start using the chassis properly, because the bolsters were never that deep to begin with and by now the padding underneath has usually gone soft on a car this age. A base-mount recliner on the right frame drops your hip point further, holds you through a corner instead of letting you slide across the leather, and finally matches the seat to what the car underneath you can actually do.
Coupe or Roadster, the fix is the same: a fitting frame that bolts to the factory floor points, and a seat that suits your build, whether that is a fast road car or one heading toward regular track days and harnesses.
We stock a fitting frame for the TT Mk2 from two of the three brands we rate, and between them they cover every seat in this guide. A frame is the vehicle specific base that bolts to the floor in place of the standard runners, and it sets your final seat height. Which frame you buy decides which seats you can run, so this choice comes first. Check one thing before you order: the Cobra subframe is listed for TT Mk2 models built from September 2006 onward, the full run of the car, while Planted’s own listing covers 2007 to 2014. If your registration is a very early Sept/Oct 2006 build, tell us when you order and we will confirm the Planted bracket covers it before you pay for one.
Part SU-AU-TT2, £255.00 inc VAT. Priced and sold as one subframe fitting one seat, so a pair means two in the basket. Covers TT Mk2 models from September 2006 onward. Pairs with 291mm runners and takes the Cobra Le Mans, Cobra Daytona, Corbeau RRS Low Base and Corbeau VLS Low Base directly.
Part SB199, £222.60 inc VAT a side, RHD driver and passenger listed separately. A flat steel base that takes any seat in this guide, paired with runners matching that seat's pattern, including the Auto Style Type AK, which ships with its own sliders in the box.
Every reclining seat we sell bolts down through a base mount pattern, and on this car there are two that matter. The Cobra Le Mans and Cobra Daytona use 291mm x 330mm, which is what the Cobra subframe is built around. The Corbeau RRS Low Base and Corbeau VLS Low Base are drilled for both 291mm and 345mm, so they bolt straight to the Cobra subframe as well as the Planted bracket. The Auto Style Type AK uses a wider 405mm x 280mm pattern that the Cobra subframe does not match, so it only goes on with the Planted bracket, using the sliders it ships with rather than a separate runner purchase.
| Seat | Bolt pattern | Cobra subframe | Planted bracket |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cobra Le Mans | 291 x 330 | Fits | Fits |
| Cobra Daytona | 291 x 330 | Fits | Fits |
| Corbeau RRS Low Base | 291 or 345 | Fits | Fits |
| Corbeau VLS Low Base | 291 or 345 | Fits | Fits |
| Auto Style Type AK | 405 x 280 | No | Fits Ships with its own sliders |
The Le Mans is the seat we fit into more TTs than anything else on this list, and it earns that spot honestly. It is built to order through Cobra’s Signature range, so you choose the trim rather than settling for whatever is on the shelf, and the shape holds you securely without the aggressive squeeze of a full bucket. Cobra list it as suitable for all heights, which matters in a car with a low roofline, and the steel frame construction means it copes fine with regular road use as well as the odd track day. Ordering to spec adds lead time, so factor that in if you want it for a specific date.
The Daytona brings a retro shape into a car that already leans towards classic sports coupe proportions, and it is a genuine alternative to the Le Mans rather than a cut-price version of it. The bolstering is slightly firmer through the shoulders, the seat is a touch taller in the back, and it is available off the shelf in spacer fabric as well as to order in vinyl or leather. It uses the same 291mm pattern as the Le Mans, so the frame decision does not change if you switch between the two while you are deciding.
The RRS Low Base is the seat to pick if you have not settled on a frame yet, or if you are on the taller side and want back the headroom a coupe roofline eats into. It is drilled for both 291mm and 345mm, so it bolts straight to the Cobra subframe as easily as it does the Planted bracket, and the Low Base version sits you that bit lower than the standard RRS. Trim runs to cloth, vinyl or leather, with black or white stitching, and the integrated headrest suits a car that still gets used on the road day to day.
The VLS Low Base does the same job as the RRS at a lower price, with a flatter, less sculpted profile that some drivers prefer for getting in and out of a two-door regularly. It shares the RRS’s dual pattern, so it never locks you into one frame while you are still deciding, and Corbeau list double locking runners as an option if you want a firmer fore-and-aft adjustment than the standard slider gives you. It is the one to look at if the Le Mans and the RRS are both more seat, and more money, than the car needs.
The Type AK is the cheapest way into a reclining seat in this guide by a wide margin, and it is a straightforward vinyl seat rather than a compromised one. Auto Style list it as suitable for all waist sizes and all heights, and it ships with its own sliders in the box, so you are not adding a separate runner purchase on top once you have bought the Planted bracket. Its 405mm pattern does not match the Cobra subframe, so this one is Planted-only on the TT.
Both frames bolt to the TT Mk2’s factory seat mounting points, so there is no drilling on a standard floor. Torque the floor bolts properly and check seat belt buckle clearance before you drive, because a sport seat often sits the buckle somewhere new. Between seat and frame go the sliding runners, and they follow the same pattern logic as the frames, except for the Auto Style, which brings its own. One ordering quirk worth knowing: the Cobra subframe is priced and sold per seat, and the Planted bracket is listed per side, RHD driver and RHD passenger, so a pair means adding two of either to the basket.
| Your seat | Runners to order | Works on |
|---|---|---|
| Cobra Le Mans or Daytona | Cobra Premium Sliding Runners, £84.00 a seat | Cobra subframe or Planted bracket |
| Corbeau RRS Low Base or VLS Low Base | Corbeau 291mm Seat Sliding Runners, £117.60 a pair | Cobra subframe or Planted bracket |
| Auto Style Type AK | Included with the seat, no separate runner needed | Planted bracket only |
The TT Mk2 covers the second-generation TT, Coupe and Roadster, built from September 2006 to 2014. The Cobra subframe is listed against that full run. Planted’s own listing reads 2007 to 2014, so a car built in the last few months of 2006 is the one case where we would confirm fitment before you order rather than assume it.
| Seat | Bolt pattern | Waist | Height | Weight | Price inc VAT |

Prices include VAT and were correct on 15 August 2026. Where a weight says not published, the manufacturer does not give one and we will not guess it. Waist and height figures are the manufacturers’ published fitment ranges; if you are on a boundary, ask us before ordering.
Not on a standard floor. Both frames bolt to the factory seat mounting points. Torque the floor bolts properly and check the seat belt buckle clearance before you drive, because a sport seat often sits the buckle somewhere new.
No. The Cobra subframe is built around the 291mm x 330mm pattern, and the Auto Style Type AK uses 405mm x 280mm. Both Corbeau seats in this guide are the exception, drilled for both 291mm and 345mm. If you want the Auto Style, go straight for the Planted bracket, which it bolts to using the sliders it ships with.
Planted's own listing covers 2007 to 2014. If your registration is from the first few months after the Mk2 launched in September 2006, tell us the exact build date when you order and we will confirm fitment before you pay for the bracket rather than assume it. The Cobra subframe is listed against the full Sept 2006 to 2014 run.
Some owners do go that way. We fitted a pair of bespoke Mirco RTX-7 fibreglass fixed-back buckets into a customer's TT for a more track-focused interior; you can see that build on our blog. A recliner keeps the factory-style adjustment and stays more usable day to day, so it depends on how the car is used.
Every seat in this guide is listed by its manufacturer as 4 point compatible, with belt slots in the backrest. If you are planning harnesses, tell us when you order and we will make sure the whole setup works together.
If it were my money: the Le Mans on the Cobra subframe for a TT that is mostly a road car with the odd track day, because it is the seat we fit most often into this chassis and the trim options mean it can still look like it belongs in an Audi interior. The RRS Low Base or the VLS Low Base if you are taller than average or you are not sure which frame you want yet, since either keeps both routes open, the RRS if budget stretches to it and the VLS if it does not. And the Auto Style Type AK if this is a track-only car on a tight budget, since it is the cheapest way to get a proper reclining seat bolted down and the included sliders mean there is nothing extra to buy beyond the Planted bracket.
Every combination above uses parts that bolt straight to the TT Mk2’s factory mounting points. If you are between two of these seats, or between sizes, get in touch with your height and waist measurement and we will talk it through before you spend anything.
Ring 0115 9893488 with the car and whichever way you are leaning, and Cameron will confirm the seat, the frame and the runners as one order before you spend anything. It is a five minute conversation and it saves buying a combination that does not line up.
