Renault Megane 2 bucket seat guide

2002 to 2008

The Megane II, 2002 to 2008, including the RS225 and R26 Renaultsport models, remains a strong front-wheel-drive track day platform. The KTR Racing subframe covers this generation, and the cage range now runs from an accessible half cage through to a full weld-in kit.

For a Megane II built properly for competition, the Corbeau Pro Series X System 5 XL at £835 gives the strongest support here.

Reclining sport seats

The Auto Style Type RS6-II Vinyl at £278 and Sparco R100 Martini Racing at £291.66 are the accessible starting points. The Sparco R500 Fabric at £274.16 and Sparco R333 at £374.56 sit a step up. The Cobra Misano Anniversary Spec 2 at £1374.17 is the top of the range.

Roll cage tier for the Megane IIWhich roll cage for a Renault Megane II

The JP Cages DIY Half Cage Kit at £295.62 is the most accessible entry into caging this car. The JP Weld In Multipoint Cage Kit at £664.75 is a strong mid-tier choice. For a Megane II built properly for competition, the Custom Cages Multipoint T45 Kit at £1545 is the top of the range here.

Harnesses

Harnesses need a roll cage or harness barA 4-point, 5-point or 6-point harness with separate shoulder straps needs proper attachment points above and behind the seat. Fit a roll cage or a properly engineered harness bar before using anything above a 3-point belt.

The TRS Clubman 3-point bolt-in at £80 and 4-point clip-in at £100 both use the standard seat belt anchor points and do not need a cage. For 4-point competition use, the TRS Magnum 4-point FIA at £205 and the Takata Drift II at £229 are the step up.

For 6-point harnesses, the cage goes in first. The TRS Magnum 6-point Superlite FIA at £245, the Takata Drift III at £270, and the Schroth Profi 3×2 at £370.01 all suit a caged Megane II going to competition or serious track days.

Common questions

The KTR Racing Direct Fit Subframe at £85 is confirmed for the Megane II.

The JP Cages DIY Half Cage Kit at £295.62 is the accessible option. The Custom Cages Multipoint T45 Kit at £1545 is the top of the range for a Megane II built properly for competition.

No. A 6-point harness needs anchor points above and behind the seat for the shoulder straps. Fit a roll cage or a properly engineered harness bar first.

A competition bucket holds you better through a corner but is harder to live with day to day. A reclining seat keeps more factory comfort while still improving on the standard seat.
