The Tillett W5 in GRP is a 6-point harness seat from the W series, designed for single-seaters and formula cockpits where a full-height headrest will not fit. No headrest. Shell is fibreglass, black. SKU W5-BLACK-GRP.
Road and Track approval. Side mount and base mount are both available as fitting options. The W5 does not offer a back frame option. If you need a back frame, the W4 is the seat in this range that has it.
Against the W4: both seats are 6-point harness and Road and Track approved, but the W4 weighs around 2 kg without a back frame (the lightest confirmed figure in the W range) and the W5 does not have a published weight. The W5 does not offer the back frame option; the W4 does. If the back frame is not a factor, the W5 is the simpler and slightly cheaper seat.
The W5 Carbon is listed alongside this one at a higher price, with a carbon and GRP shell rather than plain GRP. If reducing weight is a priority and the budget allows, that is the alternative. If not, this GRP version gives the same functionality.
Seat cover options are Dinamica faux suede panels or bare shell.
For conventional track cars and performance road cars rather than single-seaters, the B6 range is likely the better fit. The W series is built for the low-headroom formula cockpit.
Will I fit in this seat?

Is this seat FIA approved?
No, this is a road and track day seat rather than a homologated competition seat. For events that require an FIA seat, look at the FIA-approved shells in the range, and ask us if you are unsure what your series needs.
What do I need to fit it to my car?
This seat takes both base and side mounting, so the fitting stack depends on which route you pick for your car. You will need the car-specific frame, and a sliding runner if you want fore-and-aft adjustment. Does it work with harnesses and a HANS device?
The shell takes 6 point compatible. If you are planning the full seat, harness, and HANS setup, tell us the car and we will spec it end to end.
How do I know it will feel right, not just fit on paper?
Fair question, because makers publish widths and weights, never feel, and two seats with identical numbers can feel nothing alike in the car. We keep the ranges on display in the Nottingham showroom, you are welcome to come and sit in them, and if you cannot get to us, call and describe your build, as the team sit in these seats every day.
