The XL version of the B10, with the same cut away sides that let you keep the standard three point belt, and 30mm more room inside.
The widths are where you need to pay attention. This shell is 48.5cm with the rolled edges left on and 45cm with them cut off, against 44cm on the standard B10. That is a real difference in a saloon with a close transmission tunnel, so measure before you order. The shell weight goes up with the size, to roughly 5.4kg against 4.5kg on the standard seat, and Tillett allow up to 10 per cent either way on any of their weights.
On driver size, we will be straight with you. Tillett size their seats in two steps and do not publish a driver weight limit for each individual XL shell, so we are not going to put a number on this page that we cannot stand behind. What we can tell you is that the XL is the wider shell and it suits drivers who find the standard B10 tight across the hips. If you want a firm figure for your build, ring us and we will ask Tillett directly.
Everything else follows the standard B10: raised headrest for a long torso, higher front kick, Dinamica suede headrest pad, carbon/GRP or GRP construction, current FIA seat fittings and the 2 degree bracket range.
Road and Track, no homologation. Base mount or side mount, six point compatible, seat only. Part number B10XL.
Have you written anything about this exact product?
Yes, we have covered this exact product: New Tillett B10 Seat For 2023. That is first-hand coverage from our own builds and showroom, not brochure copy.
Will I fit in this seat?
This is the XL version of the shell, cut wider than the standard seat. Tillett do not publish per-model driver limits for the XL shells, so rather than guess, send us your height and waist and we will confirm against the actual seat.
Is this seat FIA approved?
No, this is a road and track day seat rather than a homologated competition seat. For events that require an FIA seat, look at the FIA-approved shells in the range, and ask us if you are unsure what your series needs.
What do I need to fit it to my car?
This seat takes both base and side mounting, so the fitting stack depends on which route you pick for your car. You will need the car-specific frame, and a sliding runner if you want fore-and-aft adjustment. Our guide on base mount versus side mount walks through the whole stack, and tell us your car and we will quote the full kit.
Does it work with harnesses and a HANS device?
The shell takes 6 point compatible. If you are planning the full seat, harness, and HANS setup, tell us the car and we will spec it end to end.
How do I know it will feel right, not just fit on paper?
Fair question, because makers publish widths and weights, never feel, and two seats with identical numbers can feel nothing alike in the car. We keep the ranges on display in the Nottingham showroom, you are welcome to come and sit in them, and if you cannot get to us, call and describe your build, as the team sit in these seats every day. Our head support measurements guide shows the kind of real-world data we collect.
Tillett seats are custom-made to order
These carbon seats are handcrafted in the UK for each order. We do not stock or display them in the showroom, so everything is a special order placed with Tillett when you buy.
Lead times depend on the model and the options you choose, so ring us before ordering if you are working to a date.
Special order
Because each seat is made for you, our special order terms apply once production has begun.
Tell us your height, weight and the car, and we will confirm the right size and mounting before anything is made. Tillett sizing is specific and worth getting right first time.
