The Sabelt Steel Formula Mid 6 Point Harness, part number 3500064, is a bolt-in 6-point formula harness approved to FIA 8853-2016. Shoulder and lap webbing are 2 inch. HANS specific. Available in black, blue and red.

The distinguishing feature over the Steel Formula Basic (350S622FU3F6, £204) is the buckle type. The Formula Mid uses a formula release buckle: a flat circular pull-up mechanism that is the standard fitment in single-seater cars from Formula 4 upwards. The driver pulls the plate upward to release all belts simultaneously. Some series regulations specifically require this buckle style rather than a standard clip buckle.

Both Steel Formula harnesses are the same price at £204. The only material difference between Basic and Mid is this buckle. If your series or car manual specifies a formula-style release buckle, order the Mid. If a clip buckle is acceptable, the Basic is identical in every other way.

HANS specific means the shoulder geometry is configured for a HANS device. This harness must be used with one. Bolt-in installation anchors to the monocoque attachment points in the single-seater cockpit.

For higher-tier formula harnesses, the Silver Formula (50A622FU3F6, £280) uses Silver series hardware in a clip buckle configuration, and the Ultralight Formula (SABCCA622FRUN, £248) moves to Ultralight webbing at a similar price point.

Does it work with a HANS device?
Yes: only 6-point FIA harnesses work with a HANS device, and this belt qualifies. If you run a device, check whether you want the HANS-specific shoulder cut and ask us which suits your setup.

What does it mount to?
A harness needs proper anchor points: a harness bar, cage, or the car’s designed mounting points, plus a seat with the right slots. Tell us the car and seat and we will confirm the mounting plan before you order.
