This Recaro sub-frame (part number 86.26.16-968) covers a group of air-cooled-era Porsche models: the 911 in Coupe, Targa, and Cabriolet body styles from this generation, along with the Porsche 968. The 911 generation covered here is the 964 series, built from 1988 to 1994. The 968 coupe and roadster, the final development of the front-engined 924/944/968 line, share sufficient floor geometry with the 964 to use the same sub-frame. The bracket uses the OEM floor mounting points on all covered variants.

The 964 and the 968 are both at a point in the classic car market where values and originality matter. The sub-frame approach preserves the floor structure entirely, which is the right choice for cars at this level. A 964 RS, a 968 Club Sport, or a Targa that has been well kept deserves an installation that can be reversed cleanly. Fore-aft adjustment is retained through the sub-frame’s integrated runners.

Fits Recaro base-mountable seats. Not for side-mounted competition shells without adaption hardware. One sub-frame, one seat position. Order twice for both sides and note your Recaro seat model at checkout. If you are fitting this to a 968 and are unsure whether the floor geometry matches the 964, contact us before ordering.

Additional seat belt brackets: Each seat frame can be used for a variety of applications including road car reclining seats throuh to Motorsport FIA seats. Seat belt brackets are not required in a range of application so manufacturers generally do not supply them with their frame kits. If you require seat belt brackets please contact us in advance

Do I keep fore-and-aft adjustment?
Only with a sliding runner between the frame and the seat, which is a separate part on Recaro frames. If more than one person drives the car, budget for the runner. Our guide to sliding runners explains the options and widths.

Recaro seats are produced in batches for the UK market

We receive Recaro deliveries regularly and hold good stock of the popular models, so many go out quickly.

Demand for the bucket seats is worldwide and production runs to Recaro’s own schedule, so the less common models and trims can take considerably longer. Ask us and we will tell you where a specific seat stands.

Before you order

If you need a seat for a date, ring us first. We would rather give you an honest lead time up front than have you waiting on a seat that is between production runs.
