This Recaro sub-frame (part number 861517) fits the Audi A3 and S3 built up to April 2003. That is the first-generation 8L platform, launched in 1996 on the Golf IV’s floorplan. The S3 made 210 bhp from its 1.8T engine, later raised to 225 bhp, and it was a compact, capable hot hatch with a tight front cabin. The sub-frame bolts directly to the 8L’s factory floor mounts.

The 8L is a different platform from the later 8P, which means the sub-frame for the 2003 onwards A3 will not fit here. The 8L floor profile and mounting geometry are what this part is designed around. Fore-aft adjustment is retained through the integrated runners. Fits Recaro base-mountable seats only.

One sub-frame, one seat position. For both driver and passenger sides, order twice. Note your Recaro seat model at checkout for fitment confirmation. If you are unsure whether your A3 is the 8L or the 8P generation, the 8P was launched for the 2003 model year with a noticeably wider body at the rear.

Additional seat belt brackets: Each seat frame can be used for a variety of applications including road car reclining seats throuh to Motorsport FIA seats. Seat belt brackets are not required in a range of application so manufacturers generally do not supply them with their frame kits. If you require seat belt brackets please contact us in advance

Do I keep fore-and-aft adjustment?
Only with a sliding runner between the frame and the seat, which is a separate part on Recaro frames. If more than one person drives the car, budget for the runner. Our guide to sliding runners explains the options and widths.

Recaro seats are produced in batches for the UK market

We receive Recaro deliveries regularly and hold good stock of the popular models, so many go out quickly.

Demand for the bucket seats is worldwide and production runs to Recaro’s own schedule, so the less common models and trims can take considerably longer. Ask us and we will tell you where a specific seat stands.

Before you order

If you need a seat for a date, ring us first. We would rather give you an honest lead time up front than have you waiting on a seat that is between production runs.
