The Mazda 121 nameplate covered two distinct cars during its UK production run. The later version, from the early 1990s through to about 1998, used Mazda’s own small car platform in what is sometimes referred to as the DW generation. It was a three or five-door hatchback competing in the supermini class. Separately, the Ford Festiva-based 121 from the late 1980s used a different floor design entirely.
Part number 866016-1849 is the Recaro direct-fit sub-frame for one generation of the Mazda 121, listed alongside the 680719 which covers the other. The two have different prices (£215.25 for this one versus £251.46 for the other), and they are not the same product. The suffix -1849 identifies this as a specific platform variant. If you are unsure which generation of 121 you have, check the build year and platform code on the chassis plate. Contact us before ordering and we will confirm the correct sub-frame.
The sub-frame attaches to the factory floor fixing positions without drilling and carries integrated fore-aft runners for the Recaro seat. The Mazda 121 is now a rare car, and the Recaro-specific fitment approach gives a cleaner installation than a universal mount would in a car with limited aftermarket documentation.
This sub-frame is for Recaro seats only and covers base-mountable bucket seats and reclining sport seats. Side-mounted competition shells need different hardware. Pricing is per frame. Contact us with your Recaro model and build year before ordering.
