The Lancia Lybra was produced from 1999 to 2005 as a saloon and estate, built on the same platform as the Alfa Romeo 156. That platform, developed by Fiat Group, gave both cars a front-wheel-drive layout with rear suspension derived from the 164’s design, which contributed to the 156’s praised handling and the Lybra’s composed ride. The two cars shared a factory in Cassino, Italy.
Part number 863816-1846 is the Recaro direct-fit sub-frame for the Lancia Lybra. It attaches to the factory floor mounting positions without drilling and carries fore-aft sliding runners for the Recaro seat. The Lybra uses the 156 platform’s fixing geometry in the front row, though the Alfa 156 sub-frame is a separate Recaro product, as the seat mounting height and angle in the two cars differs despite the shared architecture.
The Lybra was Lancia’s executive saloon in the UK for a brief period before Lancia withdrew from the British market. It is a rare car now. Owners who kept one tend to appreciate the Italian chassis character it shares with the 156, and fitting a Recaro Sport or reclining seat makes the most of that driving dynamic.
