Rarer than the Golf, and for a reason
Volkswagen added a boot to the Mk1 Golf and called it a Jetta, and in Europe hardly anybody wanted one. They sold in far greater numbers in North America. That is why survivors here are scarce and why parts hunting is harder than for the hatchback.

The floor check is a serious one
Mk1 Volkswagens rust comprehensively and forty five year old ones that were cheap for most of their lives have usually had work. Get the carpet up and look properly at the metal round every mounting point. If it is soft, sort it before a seat goes near it.
A period trimmed shell suits a Mk1 far better than a modern bucket. Handed, so order twice for a pair.
