Type S, not Type R
Worth being clear about, because the names are one letter apart and the cars are not the same. The Type S is the three door of this generation with the wedge shape and the split rear screen, in a lower state of tune than the Type R.

What the seat swap gains you
The Type S came with ordinary seats rather than the Type R’s bolstered items, so there is a straightforward case for a shell here that there is not on the R. The chassis is the same underneath and it will carry more speed than the standard seat holds you for.
Visibility
That split rear screen and the high tail are a known complaint on this generation. A shell lowers you, which does not help. Tell us your height and we will talk it through.

Will this fit my car?
This frame is made for the Honda Civic Type-S. Chassis code and years matter more than the badge, as floor pans change between generations, so if your car sits near a changeover year, send us the registration and we will confirm before you order.
Which seats does it take?
It takes seats drilled 345mm x 271mm (the Sparco and OMP seat pattern) and 405mm x 290mm (the Recaro seat pattern). If your seat is not listed, tell us what you run and we will confirm the fit.
Do I keep fore-and-aft adjustment?
Only with a sliding runner between the frame and the seat, which is a separate part on OMP frames. If more than one person drives the car, budget for the runner. Our guide to sliding runners explains the options and widths.
Base mount or side mount, and does it matter?
