An OMP direct fit subframe for the Peugeot 205 1.6. Part number HC735.
This is the base part. A 1.9 listing sits alongside it under HC735-2570.
The 205 GTI 1.6
The one a great many people argue is the better car. It is lighter over the front axle than the 1.9, revs more freely, and the chassis balance is sweeter for it. The 1.9 has more power and a reputation for lift off oversteer that the 1.6 shares in a gentler form.
Both are appreciating hard and good original cars are getting genuinely scarce.
Which changes the approach
The frame bolts to the factory mounting points so nothing is cut and the original seats come out whole. On a car now worth real money, that matters. Store them somewhere dry.
Practical
205s rust and forty year old ones deserve a proper look with the carpet up. Small inside, so tell us your height, and light, so ask us about lighter shells.
Have you written anything useful for my car?
Yes: Top 5 reclining seat choices for your Peugeot 307, including our fitting guide, and The Complete Guide to Safety Devices Roll Cages for Peugeot Models. Those are written around the same car, from real fittings and customer questions, so they are worth a look before you decide.
Will this fit my car?
This frame is made for the Peugeot 205 1.6. Chassis code and years matter more than the badge, as floor pans change between generations, so if your car sits near a changeover year, send us the registration and we will confirm before you order.
Which seats does it take?
It takes seats drilled 345mm x 271mm (the Sparco and OMP seat pattern) and 405mm x 290mm (the Recaro seat pattern). If your seat is not listed, tell us what you run and we will confirm the fit.
Do I keep fore-and-aft adjustment?
Only with a sliding runner between the frame and the seat, which is a separate part on OMP frames. If more than one person drives the car, budget for the runner. Our guide to sliding runners explains the options and widths.
Base mount or side mount, and does it matter?
This is a base-mount frame: the seat bolts down through its base, the simpler stack that suits seats with a flat bottom and keeps the install low-fuss. Our guide on base mount versus side mount explains the whole fitting stack.
Is this for the driver or passenger side?
Both sides are available on this listing, pick driver or passenger side at the point of order (sides listed are for right-hand-drive cars). Left-hand-drive car? Ask us, as the sides swap over and availability varies by model.
Why is there a separate 1.6 and 1.9 version of this frame?
The floor mount points are the same across the 1.6 and 1.9 205, but OMP build the two frames as engine-matched versions, tuned to the ride height and floor differences that come with the heavier 1.9 engine and running gear. It is a difference in how OMP designed the pair, not in where the bolts go.
