Where the RXC sits

The RXC is a deeper, more enveloping shell than the Sprint without going as far as the head-supported Revenge and Revolution. In tartan it is 805 standard and 845 in this XL, which puts it between the Sprint and the Pro Series.

It is a shape rather than a grade. The only reliable way to choose between the RXC, Sprint and Pro Series is to sit in them, because all three are the same fibreglass construction to the same FIA standard.

XL width

Forty pounds over the standard RXC Tartan. The extra room is across the hips and ribs. Do not size up for comfort: a bucket seat that lets you move is not restraining you.

The tartan work

Wool cloth, eight designs, cut and trimmed in house to your choice. The plain RXC X System 1 XL is 600, so the trim is a substantial part of what you are paying for, and it is done one seat at a time rather than batched.

Approval and mounting

FIA 8855-1999. Read the label on the seat that arrives for its expiry, normally manufacture plus five years with two more available by revalidation. System 1 is the fibreglass shell. This seat base mounts rather than hanging between side mounts.

FIA bucket seats are built to order, typically 3 to 7 days from the day you order. Kevlar and carbon shells take longer, so ask us if you are working to a date.

Reclining sport seats are also made to order in your chosen trim, and run to a similar timescale.
