The Pro Series has no head support
That is the defining feature rather than a saving. The shell stops at the shoulders, which gives you clearer vision over your shoulder and more freedom to move your head. Some drivers strongly prefer it. Some regulations require the alternative, so read yours first.
If you want lateral head protection in tartan, the Revenge at 875 and the Revolution at 920 both have it.
Width
This is the standard shell. The Pro Series XL Tartan is 880 for a wider hip and rib section. Fit decides this, not budget: the seat works by holding you.
What the tartan is
Genuine wool cloth, cut and trimmed to your chosen design in house, one seat at a time. The plain Pro Series X System 1 is 610, so the trim is where the difference goes. It is not a cover or a printed fabric.
There are eight designs to choose from, running from the darker Blair Ancient and MacFarlane Clan Ancient through to the lighter MacKenzie and Stewart Dress Moderns. Tell us which when you order.
Mounting and approval
System 1 is the fibreglass shell in Corbeau grading, with Kevlar as System 3 and carbon as System 5. This seat is base mount, so it sits on its base rather than between side mounts. Check that your frames suit that before ordering.
FIA 8855-1999. The expiry is printed on the seat you receive, normally five years from manufacture, and can be extended by two through the manufacturer.
