The Porsche 944 ran from 1982 to 1991. It is a front-engined, rear-transaxle sports car and one of the better driver’s cars Porsche made at the entry of the range. This subframe (MR-PO-91) is listed for the 944 from October 1984, though the date qualifier needs explaining before you order.

Confirm your year before ordering

The “from 10/1984” date range in this listing was carried across from a 911 product entry and does not describe the 944 range accurately. Send us the year of your car at checkout and we will confirm which frame it takes before it ships. One line in the order notes is enough.

The subframe bolts to the 944’s factory floor mounting points. The 291mm x 330mm bolt pattern fits Cobra base-mounted seats with a 291mm or 405mm wide runner handle: Monaco, Classic, Clubman, Monte Carlo, Stuttgart and Le Mans all bolt on. The sliding runner is included in the price. Sparco, Planted, OMP, Recaro and Corbeau sell it separately.

The 944 interior is wide enough that most of the Cobra range fits without the clearance issues you find in smaller cars. Early cars came with a basic factory seat for the money the car cost when new. A proper bucket makes a real difference here.

Side-mounted seats (Nogaro, Suzuka T, Imola) need side mounts rather than this subframe.

#3. A full replacement frame only
#4. An adaption bracket kit

Additional seat belt brackets: Each seat frame can be used for a variety of applications including road car reclining seats throuh to Motorsport FIA seats. Seat belt brackets are not required in a range of application so manufacturers generally do not supply them with their frame kits. If you require seat belt brackets please contact us in advance

NOT SUITABLE FOR OEM/FACTORY seats removed from other vehicles

Bolt point tolerances:

Please note that OMP, Sparco and various other brands have a +/- 10mm tolerance on the bolt point locations on each of their sub-frames. This means that when installing the equipment into your vehicle, you may find that one or more of the bolt points may need extending for a perfect fit.

This is normal and, when installed by a skilled professional, it may only add five minutes to the total installation time. A prime example is the OMP Renault Clio MK3 frames and the BMW E46 frames as two bolt points need extending by 5mm in 75% of installations.

Drilling of frames and equipment may be required to complete your installation.

Matching seats and frames:

There are over half a dozen different bolt patterns in the industry for base mounted seats. There are over 30 different bolt patterns for side mounted seats. Aftermarket frames from different brands will have different bolt location points.

Seats and frames are not a direct fit between brands. Seat frames are also not suitabled for OEM seats (Fitted into a vehicle from the factory) Please ensure to contact us for professional advice before purchasing your seat frames. We will be able to provide you a recommendation as to which seat frame is right for which seat.

Cobra seats are handcrafted in the UK

Each seat is built to the specification you choose, which is why the wait is what it is: on average around 4 to 6 weeks, depending on the trim and options.

Cobra do not allow queue jumping. Orders are produced in the order they are received, so the earlier yours is placed the earlier it is built.

Made to your specification

Because each seat is made for your order rather than picked off a shelf, a made-to-specification seat cannot be cancelled once it is in production, and our special order terms apply.

Working to a date, or not sure which trim to pick? Ring us before you order. Getting the specification right at the start is far easier than changing it later.
