Height is the whole question in a 911

You sit low in a 997 already and the standard seats put you where Porsche intended. Any change to the seat and frame moves that, and in a car where the relationship between your hips, the wheel and the pedals is already good, moving it is not automatically an improvement.

So be specific about what you want. If it is lateral support under load, a bucket earns its place. If it is a lower hip point for helmet clearance, the frame does most of that work. If it is harness compatibility, the seat needs the right slots and the belts need planning at the same time.

The runner is included

Cobra supply the sliding runner with the frame rather than charging separately for it, unlike Sparco, Planted, OMP, Recaro and Corbeau. The seat keeps its fore and aft adjustment and the comparison against other makers is closer than the headline prices suggest.

Before you order

The frame replaces the standard runners and picks up the existing floor mounting points, so there is no drilling and the seat sits square.

What's included?

What will be in the box? There are several types of seat frames which may be supplied depending on the vehicle and application. You may receive 1 of the following 4 types. If you are using them with a certain seat, please contact us in advance for professional advice.

#1. A full replacement frame with a sliding runner and resisitor kit
#2. A full replacement frame with a sliding runner
#3. A full replacement frame only
#4. An adaption bracket kit

Additional seat belt brackets: Each seat frame can be used for a variety of applications including road car reclining seats throuh to Motorsport FIA seats. Seat belt brackets are not required in a range of application so manufacturers generally do not supply them with their frame kits. If you require seat belt brackets please contact us in advance

Bolt point tolerances:

Please note that OMP, Sparco and various other brands have a +/- 10mm tolerance on the bolt point locations on each of their sub-frames. This means that when installing the equipment into your vehicle, you may find that one or more of the bolt points may need extending for a perfect fit.

This is normal and, when installed by a skilled professional, it may only add five minutes to the total installation time. A prime example is the OMP Renault Clio MK3 frames and the BMW E46 frames as two bolt points need extending by 5mm in 75% of installations.

Drilling of frames and equipment may be required to complete your installation.

Matching seats and frames:

There are over half a dozen different bolt patterns in the industry for base mounted seats. There are over 30 different bolt patterns for side mounted seats. Aftermarket frames from different brands will have different bolt location points. 

Seats and frames are not a direct fit between brands. Seat frames are also not suitabled for OEM seats (Fitted into a vehicle from the factory) Please ensure to contact us for professional advice before purchasing your seat frames. We will be able to provide you a recommendation as to which seat frame is right for which seat.

This frame is made for the Porsche 997. Chassis code and years matter more than the badge, as floor pans change between generations, so if your car sits near a changeover year, send us the registration and we will confirm before you order.

Cobra design each tailored frame around a particular seat, so check the Compatible seats tab above for the designed pairing. Other seats with a matching bolt pattern can work as cross-compatible components rather than a designed set, so ask us before mixing brands.

Do I keep fore-and-aft adjustment?
Yes, and unlike most brands the sliding runner comes included with a Cobra frame, in the price. That changes the like-for-like comparison against other makers, where the runner is a separate part on top. Our guide to sliding runners covers how they work.

Base mount or side mount, and does it matter?
This is a base-mount frame: the seat bolts down through its base, the simpler stack that suits seats with a flat bottom and keeps the install low-fuss. Our guide on base mount versus side mount explains the whole fitting stack.

Cobra seats are handcrafted in the UK

Each seat is built to the specification you choose, which is why the wait is what it is: on average around 4 to 6 weeks, depending on the trim and options.

Cobra do not allow queue jumping. Orders are produced in the order they are received, so the earlier yours is placed the earlier it is built.

Made to your specification

Because each seat is made for your order rather than picked off a shelf, a made-to-specification seat cannot be cancelled once it is in production, and our special order terms apply.
