Tartan on a competition seat

An unusual combination and a deliberate one. Tartan was a real period trim on fast cars, and putting it on a current FIA homologated shell gives you a seat that suits a historic or period build without giving up the approval that lets you compete.

Cobra hand trim these in the UK and let the tartan properly into the centre panel rather than printing it. Tell us which you want in the comments at checkout and we will confirm it before the seat is built.

The seat underneath

Fully steel plated with a solid back and base for intrusion protection, integral head pad and shoulder support. Base mounted or side mounted. Slots for a 4 or 6 point harness. 11.4kg, which is the honest cost of the steel plating.

Drivers under 6ft with a 32 to 36 inch waist. Narrower and wider versions of the Monaco shell exist if you are outside that.

Before you order

FIA seats carry an expiry tied to their manufacture date. Ask us for the date on current stock if you are buying close to a season, and check whether your class names 8855-1999 or 8862-2009, because nothing in this range carries the latter.

Each seat is built to the specification you choose, which is why the wait is what it is: on average around 4 to 6 weeks, depending on the trim and options.

Cobra do not allow queue jumping. Orders are produced in the order they are received, so the earlier yours is placed the earlier it is built.

Made to your specification

Because each seat is made for your order rather than picked off a shelf, a made-to-specification seat cannot be cancelled once it is in production, and our special order terms apply.

Working to a date, or not sure which trim to pick? Ring us before you order. Getting the specification right at the start is far easier than changing it later.
