Cobra centre armrest upholstery in alcantara. Part number RS-C-A.
Grip, and no heat under your arm
Alcantara does two things well here. It stays cooler than leather or vinyl under a bare forearm in summer, and it grips rather than letting your elbow slide off under braking.
It is also the material that reads as competition rather than luxury, which is the point if the seats either side are trimmed the same way.
Be honest about the wear
This is the panel that will test it. Alcantara goes shiny where it is rubbed repeatedly, and an armrest is a single contact point used every journey. It will show wear before the headrests or the door panels do.
Brushing rather than wiping keeps the pile up, and it wants doing more often here than anywhere else in the car. If the car does big mileage rather than occasional weekends, leather and alcantara puts leather on the wear edges and keeps the alcantara where it is not being scuffed.
The choice
Alcantara sits on the upper price tier with leather and leather and alcantara. Vinyl, vinyl and fabric and spacer fabric are the lower tier.
Made by Cobra in Berkshire. Headrests, door panels and the rear bench come in the same six materials.
