2016 onwards, including FK8 Type R
The FK8 Type R is why this fitting frame exists. It held the front-wheel-drive Nurburgring lap record, has a genuinely sorted chassis, and a great many are used on track. It also came with deeply bolstered factory seats that are among the best fitted to any hot hatch. They hold you properly and they are part of what the car is worth at resale.
Think hard before changing a Type R seat. For a lot of owners, the honest answer is to keep the factory seats and put the money into a harness bar, belts and a head restraint instead. If you are caging the car or your class has a seat rule, that changes the answer, and we will work it through with you. On the ordinary Civics, the Sport and standard cars have conventional seats and the case for a shell is straightforward.

Mounting
Talk to us before changing a Type R seatThe FK8 factory seats are genuinely good and carry resale value. If a harness bar, belts and a head restraint would meet your needs, that is often the better spend. Tell us what you are trying to achieve before ordering a fitting frame.
The Planted Technology bracket (23119, part SB290) at £185.50 covers the Civic from 2016 onwards. It is handed, so order twice for a pair, and it has side airbag and occupancy sensing considerations; tell us the specification before removing the standard seat.
For side mount, the Sparco FIA steel brackets (13876) carry their own FIA approval. Add the Sparco sliding runner kit (14036) for fore-aft adjustment.

Competition bucket seats
Most seats here carry FIA 8855-1999 approval. The Cobra Monaco Pro at £235 is the steel-shelled dual-mount option. The OMP Champ-R at £318 and Mirco RS2 3D at £354.50 are lighter fibreglass alternatives.
The Sabelt GT3 at £431 and Sparco Evo QRT at £475 sit at the upper end, both suited to a Type R built for regular track use. The Corbeau Sprint X System 3 at £675 is the newest-standard FIA seat in this range.

For a track day car, the OMP Champ-R at £318 is a lighter FIA-rated fibreglass option. If the car sees contact, the Cobra Monaco Pro at £235 trades some weight for a steel shell. Reclining sport seats
Reclining sport seats fit the Planted bracket. The Auto Style Type AK at £235 and Type RK at £257.50 are accessible starting points, suited to the ordinary Civic Sport rather than the Type R. The Sparco R333 at £374.56 gives a step up in lateral support.
The Cobra Daytona at £499.17 is the Cobra fibreglass recliner option. At the top of the range, the Sparco SPR at £1549.12 is a premium reclining seat for a full interior rebuild.

The Custom Cages International Multipoint T45 kit (236276) at £1395 is confirmed for the FK7, a weld-in multipoint design for a car being built properly for competition.

Harnesses
Harnesses need a roll cage or harness barA 4-point, 5-point or 6-point harness with separate shoulder straps needs proper attachment points above and behind the seat. Fit a roll cage or a properly engineered harness bar before using anything above a 3-point belt.
The TRS Clubman 3-point bolt-in at £80 and 4-point clip-in at £100 both use the standard seat belt anchor points and do not need a cage. For 4-point competition use, the TRS Magnum 4-point FIA at £205 and the Takata Drift II at £229 are the step up.
For 6-point harnesses, proper anchor points are needed first. The TRS Magnum 6-point Superlite FIA at £245, the Takata Drift III at £270, and the Schroth Profi 3×2 at £370 are all suitable once those points exist.

Should I replace the FK8 Type R factory seats?
Think hard about it first. They are deeply bolstered, among the best factory seats fitted to any hot hatch, and part of what the car is worth at resale. Why is there only one fitting bracket brand?
This is a genuinely newer platform, so fewer brands have tooled up direct-fit frames for it yet. That reflects the current state of the market rather than a gap in what we stock.
Is there a roll cage for this generation?
Yes. The SW Motorsports half cage is confirmed for the FK8. The Custom Cages weld-in T45 kit is confirmed for the FK7.
Can I run a 6-point harness without a roll cage?
No. A 6-point harness needs anchor points above and behind the seat for the shoulder straps. Fit a roll cage or a properly engineered harness bar first. A 3-point bolt-in harness uses the standard seat belt anchor points and does not need a cage.
