Ford Focus Mk2 bucket seat guide
2004 to 2011
This guide covers the standard Ford Focus Mk2, built 2004 to 2011. For the ST225, a separate guide covers the fitting frames and cages specific to that car.
Sparco and Corbeau both list a single sub-frame covering the whole Mk2 run. Recaro splits theirs by facelift: one frame for cars built 2004 to 2008, another for the facelifted car from 2008 onwards. If you are fitting a Recaro recliner, checking which facelift you have matters; for Sparco, OMP or Corbeau seats, the single frame covers either.
This guide covers those fitting frames, competition seats, and roll cages confirmed for this generation.
- Sparco (14840) and Corbeau (16552) sub-frames each cover the whole Mk2 run. Recaro splits theirs into pre-facelift (2004-2008, 17221) and facelift (2008 onwards, 17222) versions

- Both base mount and side mount are available. Side mount uses the Sparco FIA steel brackets

Mounting
The Sparco direct-fit sub-frame (14840, part 004990681) at £92.50 fits the second-generation Focus from 2005 onwards, covering both the pre-facelift and facelifted car. The Corbeau sub-frame (16552) at £289.50 is the brand-specific option if you are running a Corbeau seat.
Recaro splits their frame by facelift: the pre-facelift version (17221) at £282.72 covers 2004 to 2008, and the facelift version (17222) at £295.97 covers 2008 onwards. If you are fitting a Recaro recliner, checking which facelift your car is matters here; Sparco, OMP and Corbeau seats are covered by the single Sparco or Corbeau frame regardless of facelift.
The Planted Technology bracket (18054) at £185.50 covers 2000-2007 and works with a wide range of seat types; talk to us before ordering to confirm the combination. For side mount, the Sparco FIA steel brackets (13876) carry their own FIA approval. Add the Sparco sliding runner kit (14036) for fore-aft adjustment.

Competition bucket seats
Most seats here carry FIA 8855-1999 approval. The Cobra Monaco Pro at £235, Cobra Monaco Premium Edition at £295.50, and Cobra Monaco Pro Lotus Gold Edition at £304.50 are all steel-shelled dual-mount options at varying trim levels, all with the intrusion resistance a fibreglass shell does not offer.
The OMP Champ-R at £318 is a lighter fibreglass alternative, side mount and HANS-compatible. The Sparco Evo QRT at £475 sits at the upper end, dual-mount and suited to a Focus built for regular track use.

The Cobra Monaco Pro at £235 is the practical steel-shelled starting point, dual-mount so it works with either the base-mount frame or the side-mount brackets. If you want a lighter fibreglass FIA shell, the OMP Champ-R at £318 is the alternative. For a car built properly for circuit work, the Sparco Evo QRT at £475 gives more support through fast corners. Reclining sport seats
Reclining sport seats are base mount, fitting the sub-frame that matches the seat brand. The Sparco R100 Martini Racing at £291.66 is the accessible starting point. The Cobra Misano Anniversary at £1374.17 is a premium reclining seat with a level of finish well beyond the mid-range options.
The Corbeau RRS Jacquard Edition, sold as a pair at £960, is a distinctive trim option at the higher end. At the top of the range, the Recaro Sportster CS With Heating at £1795.50 is the premium heated option, pairing with the correct facelift-specific Recaro sub-frame above.

Roll cages
Safety Devices list three bolt-in options, all confirmed for the 2004-2011 3-door non-sunroof Mk2 and FIA/MSA approved: the single-diagonal 6-point cage (19817) at £956, the cross-diagonal 6-point cage (19818) at £1002, and the full multipoint cage (19819) at £1177.
The Custom Cages CDS 2007 International cage (16707) at £1106.76 is the weld-in alternative, built to Custom Cages’ International specification.

Harnesses
Harnesses need a roll cage or harness barA 4-point, 5-point or 6-point harness with separate shoulder straps needs proper attachment points above and behind the seat. Fit a roll cage or a properly engineered harness bar before using anything above a 3-point belt.
The TRS Clubman 3-point bolt-in at £80 and 4-point clip-in at £100 both use the standard seat belt anchor points and do not need a cage. For 4-point competition use, the TRS Magnum 4-point FIA at £205 and the Takata Drift II at £229 are the step up.
For 6-point harnesses, the cage goes in first. The TRS Magnum 6-point Superlite FIA at £245, the Takata Drift III at £270, and the Schroth Profi 3×2 at £370 all suit a caged Focus Mk2 going to competition or serious track days.

Does this guide cover the ST225?
No, the ST225 has its own separate guide with fitting frames and cages specific to that car.
Which Recaro sub-frame do I need?
It depends on the facelift. Cars built 2004 to 2008 need the pre-facelift frame; cars from 2008 onwards need the facelift version. If you are unsure which you have, send us the registration.
Do Sparco and Corbeau seats need the same facelift check?
No. The Sparco and Corbeau sub-frames each cover the whole Mk2 run, pre-facelift and facelift alike. The split only applies to the Recaro-specific frame.
Are the roll cages suitable for competition?
The three Safety Devices cages are FIA and MSA approved. The Custom Cages weld-in option is the more involved installation, suited to a Focus being properly built for competition.
Can I run a 6-point harness without a roll cage?
No. A 6-point harness needs anchor points above and behind the seat for the shoulder straps. Fit a roll cage or a properly engineered harness bar first. A 3-point bolt-in harness uses the standard seat belt anchor points and does not need a cage.
