A question in this week from a Polo 6C owner: can I fit Corbeau Sportline RRS Tartan Edition reclining seats? It is a good pairing to ask about. The tartan suits a small VW, and the RRS is the slimmer of the Corbeau recliners, which matters in a Polo.
The short answer is yes, on the OMP frame, and the longer answer is worth reading because the 6C has a naming quirk that trips people up before they get as far as the seat.

The short answer
Yes. The Corbeau Sportline RRS Tartan Edition is a base mount reclining seat with a 291mm x 330mm or 345mm x 271mm bolt pattern, and it goes into a Polo 6C on the OMP Mk5 frame. It bolts to the factory floor points with nothing drilled.
The only thing to be clear-eyed about is height. This is a reclining seat that sits on its own runner over the frame, so it ends up about level with the standard seat. If the reason you are changing seats is to get lower, this is the wrong seat and we will say so.
Why a 6C takes a 6R frame
Two names, one car. The Mk5 Polo was the 6R from 2009 and became the 6C with the 2014 facelift. That facelift changed the headlights, the bumpers, the steering and the 1.2 TSI engine, and left the floor exactly where it was. The seat mounting points did not move, so every frame the makers list for the 6R fits the 6C.
Until this week our frame listings said only 6R, which is why a 6C owner searching the site could come away thinking we had nothing for their car. Each of the three Mk5 frames now has its own 6C listing with the same part number and a -6C suffix, so whichever name is on your logbook, the frame turns up. If you land on a listing that says 6RIt is the same frame as the 6C one. Order either. We keep both so your car shows up in a search, not because there is a difference to choose between.
The two frames that do it

There is no Corbeau Polo frame
Corbeau confirmed to us that they do not make a subframe for any generation of VW Polo. Their seats fit this car, but they go on somebody else’s frame.

No drilling
The frame bolts to the factory floor points in place of the standard runners. Keep the standard seats and the car goes back to how it was when you sell it.
Which one? If money is the deciding factor the OMP frame saves £131.73 a side and works. If you want the seat and frame to come from one maker so nobody can point at the other when something needs sorting, the Corbeau frame is the tidier answer. We sell plenty of both.

The Tartan Edition is the Sportline RRS with tartan centre panels, in blue, red or yellow, on a vinyl or fabric shell. It is sold per seat and per side, so a driver and a passenger is two orders at £730 each before options. Heating, inflatable lumbar, or both together, add to that. The one thing it will not do
A Polo is small inside and a lot of people change seats to get their helmet away from the roof. This seat will not do that for you. A reclining seat sits on its own runner, the runner sits on the frame, and that stack puts you back at about the height you started. That is true of every recliner on every frame, it is not a Corbeau thing.
If the tartan is the point, and for most people asking about this seat it is, then that is fine and you will be sat in a far better seat at the same height. If getting low is the point, ring us and we will talk about a fixed back shell on the OMP frame instead.
Check the buckle before you drive itA base mount seat on a frame often moves the belt buckle. Sit in it, clip in, and make sure the buckle is where you can reach it and is not fouled by the bolster before the car goes anywhere. Ten seconds, and it saves a refit.

My logbook says 6C. Which frame listing do I order?
Either the 6C listing or the 6R one, they are the same part. We list both so your car shows up in a search. If you would rather we just picked, order the 6C one.
Is one seat enough, or is it sold as a pair?
Per seat, per side. A driver and a passenger is two orders, one RHD driver and one RHD passenger, and if you are going the OMP route that is two frames as well.
Will it fit the cabin? A Polo is narrow.

Does the leather one fit the same?
Yes. Same shell, same bolt pattern, same frames. The only difference is the covering and £200 a seat.
Can I keep the standard seat belt?
Yes, and the pretensioner and buckle stay as they are. The buckle position can change, which is why the note above tells you to sit in it and clip in before you drive it.
