A single Corbeau Sportline RRS reclining sport seat in fabric and vinyl with tartan panels, 730. Reclining, base mount, no head support, four point harness compatible, Road and Track approval. Blue, red or yellow tartan, other trims on request.

Why this one sells

It is the most bought tartan seat we list, and the reason is that it is the RRS, which is the Sportline shell most people want, in the red, blue or yellow check that suits a classic Mini, an Escort or any car from the era when tartan was what a fast car had inside. Sold as a single, so one for the driver or two for both sides.

The two tartan schemes

This seat uses Corbeau’s original three tartans. The newer Tartan Edition range uses eight named clan tartans and is sold as pairs, with the RRS pair at 1420. Different cloths, different look. If you want a clan tartan, that is the one; if you want the classic check, it is this.

Leather version

The same seat with a leather surround is 930.

Options

A fitted heater and lumbar package, or heating and inflatable lumbar separately. Heating needs its own loom and switch.

Corbeau seat size guide

Corbeau size their composite buckets Standard or XL, and the rule for choosing is one line long. The System number is the shell material, not the size.

How Corbeau size their seats

Corbeau’s own guidance for the Sprint X, Pro-Series X, Revenge X, Revolution X and RXC X is Standard up to a 34 inch waist and XL from 34 inch. Our product pages band them as Standard 32 to 36 and XL 36 to 40, which is the same rule with room either side. A 34 to 36 inch waist is the crossover: if you carry your weight on your hips take the XL, if you are tall and lean the Standard.

System 1, 3 and 5 are the shell layup. System 1 is GRP and Kevlar, System 3 Kevlar and carbon, System 5 full carbon. The shape and the sizes are the same across all three, so pick the size first and the System on weight and budget.

The Sportline reclining seats (RRS, RRB, SVR, VLS, Dakota and the rest) are one size for a 32 to 38 inch waist. The Classic bucket comes in Standard and Excel width, the Excel being the wider shell.

Low Base versionsThe RRS Low Base and VLS Low Base are the same shell on a lower frame. Choose them for headroom, not for width.

All the X-range buckets mount through Corbeau Pro-Team side mounts with M10 12.9 fixings. The side mounts come in four angles (35 degree, 90 degree, 90 degree extended and restricted space), which is the car’s decision rather than the driver’s.

Measure yourself first

Four numbers decide whether a seat fits. Take them in the clothes you drive in, and write them down before you compare models.

AWaistAround your natural waist, not your trouser size. Trouser sizes usually run an inch or two under the real figure, and the waist bands on our product pages use the real one.

BSeated hip widthSit on a hard chair with your feet flat and measure straight across the widest point of your hips with a rule or a straight edge, not a tape that follows the curve. This is the number that decides whether a fixed shell is tight.

CShouldersStraight across the back at the widest point. Fixed back seats hold you here, so a shell that is narrow at the shoulders is uncomfortable long before it is unsafe.

DHeight and torsoYour height, and if you are over 6 ft whether that is mostly leg or mostly body. A long body needs a taller shell with the head support set higher.

Before you order

Check the car, not only the driver. Transmission tunnels, door cards and B pillars are what stop a wide shell going in. Our seat mounting and fixing points guide covers what to measure.
Side mount and base mount shells are not interchangeable. Which one you need depends on the car and the subframe, so pick the brackets at the same time as the seat.
If you run a HANS or plan to, filter on HANS friendly. The shoulder openings are cut to clear the collar.
FIA seats carry an expiry date on the homologation label. Check what your championship accepts and how long the seat has left, particularly on discounted older stock.

Will I fit in this seat?
The maker sizes this seat for drivers with a 36in to 38in or 32in to 36in waist. Those are the paper numbers; how a seat actually feels to sit in and climb out of is a different question, and our showroom team sit in these seats every day, so call us with your height and waist and we will give you the honest answer.

What do I need to fit it to my car?
You need the car-specific frame for your vehicle, plus a sliding runner for fore-and-aft adjustment. Tell us your car and we will quote the complete fitting kit in one go. Our sliding runner guide covers the adjustment side.

Does it recline like a normal seat, and what about armrests?
Yes, the backrest reclines, which is the whole point of a sport recliner over a fixed bucket: support in the corners, comfort on the motorway, and access to rear seats. Armrests: not fitted on this model. Our recliner lineup comparison shows how the ranges stack up.

I am a bigger driver. Will it work for me?

FIA bucket seats are built to order, typically 3 to 7 days from the day you order. Kevlar and carbon shells take longer, so ask us if you are working to a date.

Reclining sport seats are also made to order in your chosen trim, and run to a similar timescale.
