Next Level Racing Seat Upgrades: Seats For The GTtrack, F-GT And F-GT Elite

Sim rig fitting guide, Next Level Racing cockpits

Next Level Racing built their name on a cockpit that does two jobs: the F-GT switches between a formula position and a GT position in one frame, and the Elite range carried that trick onto aluminium profile. It asks something specific of a seat: one shell that holds you properly in both positions, mounted low enough for the formula setting to mean it.

The good news is that NLR made the mounting half easy. One part, their universal seat bracket, is the stated interface for the GTtrack, the F-GT and the whole Elite family, and it takes side-mounting seats, which is exactly what a motorsport shell is. So this page does the half NLR do not publish: which shells and recliners earn the spot, in which size, at what price.

  • NLR’s universal seat bracket is the stated interface for the GTtrack, F-GT and the whole Elite family
  • It takes side-mounting seats, and every shell on this page carries the four M8 holes at 290mm it expects
  • The F-GT Elite is an aluminium profile rig, so our steel mounts and runners bolt to its rails too
  • The folding GT Lite and F-GT Lite are built around their own seats, said plainly
  • The recliner route on the Elite lands at £360.00 all in, and runs to the carbon Sparco SPX

Three families, one bracket

Next Level Racing’s range sorts into three families, and the seat conversation is different in each. The table is the thirty second version; the rest of the page deals with the two families a motorsport seat belongs on.

Range facts from Next Level Racing’s own product pages, read August 2026. Their universal seat bracket page also states compatibility with third-party 8020 profile rigs, which cuts both ways: our hardware fits theirs.

The two ways a seat goes on

A. Fixed back seat on side mountsB. Recliner on sliding runnersseat rails, T-nuts in the top slot on profile framessteel sidemountshell, M8 holes in the flanksM8 x 4same rails, runners bolted flat across the toprunnersseat base, 345mm x 271mm bolt patternrecliner, backrest tilts

The two routes, drawn end on and not to scale. On an NLR the universal seat bracket is the route A interface for every frame in the range; route B needs runners on the Elite’s rails.

Route A is the one NLR designed for: a fixed back shell held by side brackets. On the tubular GTtrack and F-GT their universal seat bracket is the interface, 5mm steel with 84 positions of adjustment, and it is theirs to sell so we simply name it. On the Elite the rails are open profile, which means our steel side mounts bolt straight on with T-nuts as an alternative, and either way the shell end of the job is the same four M8 bolts at 290mm.

Route B, the recliner on runners, belongs on the Elite family only: the tubular frames have nowhere honest to put a runner, and the Lites are their own thing entirely. Cameron’s counter rule holds: one driver, route A. A shared rig, route B on the Elite.

The interface everything meets at: two M8 holes each side of the shell, 290mm apart front to back. NLR’s universal bracket and our steel mounts both bolt to it.

The hardware, theirs and ours

If you already own the NLR universal bracket, use it: it does this job and it is made for the frame. Buying fresh for an Elite, our three steel side mounts cover the same interface from £31.80: the QMS universal mounts, the Endurance multi point set from £46.80 with its extra height and reach positions, and the Sparco FIA long side mounts at £58.74 with the longest slots. They arrive in the same box as the seat, checked against the shell before dispatch.

Sharing the Elite? Keep the travelThe Sparco twin runner kit at £78.00 covers two seats and the Endurance premium runner at £90.00 is the heavier single. Both bolt across profile rails with T-nuts and both carry Sparco’s 345mm x 271mm base pattern.

Pick the seat by your build and your position

The F-GT’s party trick raises the one genuinely NLR-specific seat question: formula position or GT position, the shell is the same, so buy for your body and let the cockpit do the switching. The Sparco GP below is the exception that proves it, a shell shaped for the formula position outright. The sim QRT range saves money everywhere else: the same shapes as the FIA versions without the paperwork a rig never needs.

Size bands from our published sim seat tables, weights are manufacturer figures where stated. Between bands, ring 0115 9893488 and Cameron will check the shell measurements against you before anything is picked.

The QRT-R stays Garreth’s pick for the long stints the Elite was bought for, and the Sparco GP suits the committed formula-position build, ordered with its own steel mounts at £63.60 because the universal brackets above do not fit it.

The recliner route on the Elite

A Sparco R100 at £282.00 on the twin runner kit at £78.00 is £360.00 all in, the cheapest proper seat an Elite can wear, with a backrest that tips and travel for every driver in the house. The R500 at £328.99 deepens the bolster on the same idea.

Seat sliding runner tracks bolted across the black profile seat rails of a Next Level Racing style rig with angled uprights, no seat fitted
Route B ready on the Elite’s rails: runner tracks bolted flat across, waiting for a base mounted seat.

For the setup where only the most premium recliner will do, the top of the row is the same two seats every time, because nothing else touches them: the Sparco SPR at £1,858.94, a recline mechanism on a moulded fibreglass shell, and the SPX from £2,815.79, the first carbon fibre recliner Sparco sold to the public, Italian leather with an Alcantara centre, around 12kg. All four recliners carry Sparco’s 345mm x 271mm base pattern, so the same runners fit under any of them.

Down to two shells and no way to split them? The sim seat row stands on the showroom floor in Nottingham and ten minutes of sitting settles it. Ring first on 0115 9893488 and the row is yours for as long as it takes.

Common questions

The bracket is made for side-mounting seats and every Sparco and Mirco shell on this page carries the standard two M8 holes each side at 290mm. NLR quote 84 positions of adjustment on the bracket, which is plenty of slot to meet that pattern. If you want certainty before ordering, tell us which bracket you have and Cameron will check the geometry against the shell.

Honestly, no. The folding Lites are built around their own seats and there is no swap there we would put our name to. If the seat is the thing bothering you, that budget goes further towards an Elite or another profile rig that takes every seat on this page.

Yes, that is the design. The cockpit moves the seat between positions; the shell itself does not change. Buy the shell for your height and waist from the table and let the frame do the switching. Only a committed formula-only build wants the Sparco GP instead.

No. The Sparco sim range is the same shells without the homologation, at a saving. An out-of-date FIA seat is a perfectly good rig seat too, so ask what ex-display or date-expired stock we have before paying full FIA money.

If it is 8020-style aluminium profile with open T-slots, yes: T-nuts in, mounts down, shell on. That is the same interface the whole profile-rig world shares, and it is why the hardware on this page keeps its value across rig upgrades.

It is NLR’s own recommended seat and it does the job it was designed for. A motorsport shell holds harder at the hips and shoulders, lasts longer, and moves to your next rig or even a car. That is the upgrade this page prices, from £396.00 plus brackets.

Which Next Level Racing, how tall and how broad the main driver is, and the number to stay under: Cameron takes it from there and the seat arrives with the right hardware in one box. Ring 0115 9893488 or come and sit in the row in Nottingham, and if the F-GT is set to formula that week, wear trousers you can climb out of.
