Sim-Lab Seat Upgrades: Seats And Brackets For The GT1 Evo, GT1 Pro, P1X And X1 Pro

Sim rig fitting guide, Sim-Lab cockpits

One email in this pile asked it perfectly: will a bucket seat fit a Sim-Lab GT1 Evo without any further modifications? Another had a P1X on order and a Sparco GP waiting for it. A third just wanted a slider for a P1 that did not creak. Sim-Lab owners do their homework, so this page answers the whole set properly.

The happy headline: every cockpit Sim-Lab make is an aluminium profile rig, and on a profile rig the seat rails move to suit the seat. There is no wrong Sim-Lab to own. What is left to decide is the seat itself and whose brackets join the two, and that is where the rest of this page earns its keep.

  • Every current Sim-Lab is an aluminium profile rig: the seat rails adjust, so almost any motorsport seat fits
  • The whole range shares the 40 series seat rail, which is why one set of brackets covers it
  • Fixed back shells side mount through four M8 bolts at 290mm, and steel brackets start at £31.80
  • The recliner route on runners starts at £360.00 all in, and runs to a carbon Sparco SPX
  • Got the pre-2023 P1X? Our dedicated fitment guide for that chassis is already live

A GT1 Evo earning its keep: shell on the side mount brackets, rails set to the seat, triples wrapped round, and a stint that will not end at one race.

The range in one table

Sim-Lab’s cockpits step up in profile size and rigidity, but the seat story barely changes across them, and that is the point of this table. The seat rails are the same 40 series extrusion family from the entry rig to the flagship, so the seat and brackets you choose today move with you when the rig gets upgraded.

Own the original P1X? Head straight to our Sim-Lab P1X bucket seat fitment guide: it carries that chassis’s 500mm rail spacing, the per-seat width table and the bracket picks verified against it. Everything below still applies to the seats themselves.

The two ways a seat goes on

A. Fixed back seat on side mountsB. Recliner on sliding runners40 series profile seat rails, T-nuts in the top slotsteel sidemountshell, M8 holes in the flanksM8 x 4same rails, runners bolted flat across the toprunnersseat base, 345mm x 271mm bolt patternrecliner, backrest tilts

The two routes, drawn end on and not to scale. Route A bolts steel side mounts to the rails and the shell to the mounts. Route B bolts sliding runners flat across the rails and a reclining seat on top. Every current Sim-Lab takes both.

Route A is the fixed back shell on steel side mounts, the one the GT1 Evo email was really asking about, and the answer to that email is yes: no modifications, no drilling, T-nuts in the rail slots and an hour with a hex key. Route B keeps a recliner on sliding runners for the household rig where three people drive and everyone wants their own distance from the pedals. Cameron’s counter rule is unchanged: one driver, route A. Shared rig, route B.

The interface both bracket routes end at: two M8 holes each side of the shell, 290mm apart front to back. Sim-Lab’s own bracket set and our steel mounts all bolt to this same pattern.

Their brackets or ours, honestly

Sim-Lab sell their own Bucket Seat Bracket Set, 4mm aluminium plates with the M8 hardware in the bag, sized for their 40 series rails, and they list a Sparco slider and S1 Enduro seats with brackets included. It is proper kit and if you already own it, it does this job.

Our brackets do the same job in steel. The QMS universal mounts are £31.80, the Endurance multi point set from £46.80 adds hole positions for seat height and reach, and the Sparco FIA long side mounts at £58.74 carry the longest slots of the three. All three are drilled for the 290mm M8 pattern in the diagram, and when the seat comes from us the brackets arrive in the same box, checked against the shell before anything ships.

Sharing the rig? Put runners under the shellSide mounts fix the shell where you bolt it. The Sparco twin runner kit at £78.00 or the Endurance premium runner at £90.00 sits between the rails and the side mounts and keeps the fore and aft travel, which was exactly what the P1 slider email needed.

Pick the seat by your build, then set the rails to it

The Sparco QRT sim range exists for exactly this build: the same shells as the FIA versions without the homologation paperwork a rig never needs, at a useful saving. The size bands below are the ones from our published sim seat tables, and one of them almost certainly describes you.

Size bands from our published sim seat tables, weights are manufacturer figures where stated. Between bands, ring 0115 9893488 and Cameron will check the shell measurements against you before anything is picked.

The email with the Sparco GP and the P1X deserves its answer here: the GP is the formula-position pick and it is happy on a P1X, but it mounts through its own Sparco steel side mounts at £63.60, not the universal brackets above, so order the pair together. The QRT-R remains the seat Garreth calls the keeper for long stints, and the Mirco RTX-7 is the big-value FIA shell that one of our customers put on his own profile rig within 48 hours of sitting in it.

The recliner route for shared rigs

The value route is unchanged from every rig we fit: a Sparco R100 at £282.00 on the twin runner kit at £78.00, £360.00 all in, with a backrest that tips and travel for every driver in the house. The R500 at £328.99 adds a deeper bolster to the same idea.

Route B on Sim-Lab rails: runner tracks bolted flat across, travel kept for whoever drives next.

For the setup where only the most premium recliner will do, the same two seats top this row as on every rig we write about, because nothing else touches them. The Sparco SPR at £1,858.94 is a recline mechanism on a moulded fibreglass shell, bucket support that still folds. The SPX from £2,815.79 is the first carbon fibre recliner Sparco sold to the public, Italian leather with an Alcantara centre, around 12kg, and on a flagship X1 Pro build it is the seat Garreth would spec without blinking. All four recliners carry Sparco’s 345mm x 271mm base pattern, so the same runners fit under any of them.

Undecided between two shells? The sim seat row stands on the showroom floor in Nottingham and settles it in ten minutes. Ring first on 0115 9893488 and the row is yours for as long as it takes, and if the rig is coming with you in the boot, even better.

Common questions

Yes, and this exact question is why the page exists. Set the seat rails to the width of the shell, drop T-nuts into the top slots, bolt the side mounts down and the shell to the mounts. No drilling, no cutting, and the rig goes back to standard with the same hex key.

Mostly, but you have something better: our dedicated Sim-Lab P1X fitment guide covers that chassis with its 500mm rail spacing and a per-seat width table. The brackets and seats on this page are the same, the rail figures there are specific to your rig.

If you already own theirs, use it, it does the job. Buying fresh, ours are steel, they start at £31.80 against their aluminium set, and they ship in the same box as the seat with the pattern checked before dispatch. Either way the interface is the same four M8 bolts at 290mm.

No. The sim versions of the Sparco QRT shells are the same shapes without the homologation, at a saving. An out-of-date FIA seat is also a perfectly good sim seat, so it is always worth asking what ex-display or date-expired stock we have before paying full FIA money for a rig seat.

Any of our universal runners bolt across the 40 series rails with T-nuts. The Sparco twin kit covers two seats for £78.00 and the Endurance premium runner at £90.00 is the heavier single. Our sliding runner guide walks the whole subject if you want the long read.

No, that is the whole trick of a profile rig: loosen the rail bolts, slide the rails out to the shell’s width, retorque. The width the rails need for each Sparco shell is in the P1X guide’s table and Cameron will confirm it against your seat before it ships.

💬
The next stepTell us the rig, the driver and the budget

Which Sim-Lab, how tall and how broad the main driver is, and the number to stay under: that is everything Cameron needs to put the right shell and the right brackets in one box. Ring 0115 9893488 or come and sit in the row in Nottingham. The GT1 Evo email that opens this page ended exactly that way, with a shell on the rails the same weekend.
