The Subaru Impreza GC8 ran from 1992 to 2000 and won the World Rally Championship with McRae, Eriksson and Burns. That heritage gave the GC8 WRX and STI an enduring place in UK club motorsport: stage rally, hillclimb, circuit sprints and track days. The turbocharged EJ20 in the WRX and STI versions rewards modification, but fitting a harness and bucket seat requires the standard runners to go.

These are the M2 Motorsport direct fit sub-frames for the Subaru Impreza GC8, part number M2-20812-S000. The frame bolts to the OEM floor mounting points, no drilling required, and sits lower than the standard runners. Steel construction, black powder coat, 290mm centre-to-centre side mount holes. The GC8 floor is shared with the early Forester (covered by a separate M2 variant), and it is a straightforward platform to work on. The standard seats in a GC8 STI are reasonable but heavy, and they do not hold the driver’s shoulders at all. Many GC8 owners who compete in BARS or BTRDA stage rally treat this frame as a first modification alongside a harness bar.

Any seat with 290mm side mount holes goes on directly: Recaro, OMP, Sparco, Cobra, Corbeau, Takata, Bride, Buddyclub, MOMO, D2 and others. Seats with only under-seat holes need the M2 adaption bars alongside this frame.
