The right materials in the right places on a folding seat
Leather on the bolsters and the front edge, alcantara through the centres. On a bench with a folding backrest that arrangement solves two problems at once.
The front edge of the base is what everyone slides across getting into the back. The top edge of the backrest is what meets the boot opening when the seat is folded. Both are leather here, and leather takes that treatment.
The centres, where people sit, get alcantara, whose grip is worth having for a passenger with nothing to brace against.
Price
Same money as plain alcantara, which makes this the better value of the two for a seat that gets used. The two piece backrest adds nothing over the solid version.
Only a two piece base costs more.
Looking after it
The leather wants feeding twice a year, particularly along the top of the backrest under the rear screen. The alcantara wants brushing rather than wiping.
