The Mercedes-Benz W123 was built from 1976 to 1985 and is one of the most durable passenger cars Mercedes ever made. It covered the 200, 230, 240D, 250, 280, and 300D variants across saloon, coupe, and estate bodies. The W123 was produced in large numbers and sold across the world, and a great many are still in regular use. It established a reputation for longevity that Mercedes has spent considerable effort maintaining ever since.
Part number 854019 is the Recaro direct-fit sub-frame for the W123. It attaches to the factory floor fixing positions without drilling and carries integrated fore-aft runners. The W123 uses classic Mercedes rear-wheel-drive platform geometry from the late 1970s, distinct from the subsequent W124 and entirely separate from the front-wheel-drive platforms Mercedes introduced later.
A Recaro seat in a W123 is a genuine period upgrade. Recaro was well established in the German aftermarket during the W123’s production run, and the seats were available through Mercedes dealers in Germany. Fitting a Recaro Sport or a period-appropriate shell to a W123 is consistent with how the car was actually modified in its time.
This sub-frame fits Recaro seats only and covers base-mountable bucket seats and reclining sport seats. Side-mounted shells need different hardware. Pricing is for one frame, one seat. Contact us with your Recaro model and we will confirm the complete kit.
